Vehicle Detail

This Trans Am could be classified as a project car but it is registered and I drive it two or three times per month. It does have some issues like any other 31 year old car but it is a nice solid car to restore. Before reading on just remember that this is not a 15,000 dollar car and whoever buys it should not expect it to be perfect like some local fools that have seen it. The car is not a basket case. It is a nice mostly solid car to restore. The reserve is set lower than the car is worth. If you want a pristine car for a song then go and buy a raffle ticket. Who know's you may get lucky. This car will need some work. If you can't handle that don't bid on it. I apologize to all car guys and girls who have the common sense to know what you are getting for the money. 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. Red with red interior. T-tops, 4 speed manual transmission, WS-6 handling package. Power steering and power brakes including rear disc brakes. This car does not have factory air conditioning. The build sheet that comes with the car states that it was originally sold in Canada. That may make the car rare in itself. The car does not have tilt steering but I do have a red tilt steering column that goes with the car. The factory radio is gone. It has an aftermarket CD player. I have it set up for satellite radio. The engine is the small 4.9 liter 4 barrell version (no turbo). The odometer shows 59,541 miles and I can't verify to be original. The engine runs great. It does have a small exhaust leak somewhere near the manifold flange. The transmission will need some work. The clutch is fine but the throwout bearing winds a little when the clutch is depressed. Sometimes it will grind when shifting into third gear. The speedometer is off some. For example it will show 50mph when actually doing 65mph. Mechanically there are no other issues with the car. The body is straight with no major dents. It does have some rust. The tailight panel that is covered by the rear bumper will need to be repaired. It is rusted bad and is common on this car. There is a small rust spot on the bottom rear of both front fenders behind the wheels. There are a couple of small rust spots about the size of a dime on the top of the passenger windshield pillar. The trunk pan is pretty solid. It only has some surface rust spots that would sand off easily. The T-tops are in excellent condition with no cracks. I have never driven the car in the rain so the only time I could check for leaks is when I washed the car. I did not find any.On Nov-01-10 at 06:34:36 PDT, seller added the following information: I apoligize for an error in the description of the car. The car has the WS4 handling package and not the WS 6. To the bidder who has bid 3,500 on the car I will not hold you responsible to purchase the car. It was a mistake and not intentional.
