1982 VANAGON L / Westfalia Campmobile If you looking for a great running Westy that doesn't smell like hippie foot or patchouli oil, this could be the one for you... With a little less than 105,555 well-maintained miles, this bus runs great, drives smooth, and is dependable transportation in need of some minor repairs and cosmetic concerns.. I have decided to sell as I have a great number of projects going on at the time, and I am hoping that within this venue, this little gem will find a good home. It is in very nice shape, and I would like to see it stay that way. From the original sales records included with the vehicle, this Westy migrated east in the early 1990's... It was purchased new in San Diego , California on 5/13/1982, when the mileage was 000018, at the purchase price of $14617.00. The undercarriage is solid with no rust... I noticed the undercoating has began its attempt flake off... There is very minor rust present on the body, in areas where I am guessing water must have sat during storage... ( tarped ? ) This Bus Features : ( PROS ) Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, Water Cooled Engine, Pop-up Camper Top with Fold down full size bed and near-mint cavaas ( no tears or mold damage, just a bit of marks that seem to be from the rubber seal issue ), AC/DC/Propane Refrigerator, Propane Range Top/ Sink ( NEVER USED !!! STILL HAS FACTORY PACKAGING MATERIAL !!! ), All snap-on screens for windows and doors are present and MINT, 2 adjustable tables, Swivel seats, Rear bench seat folds down into bed... Super sounding system with AM/FM/CD that has digital accessory adapter plugs attached ( USB and IPOD ) , High end Tweeters, low bottom bass speakers, with digital capacitor amp underneath back seat... GREAT SOUND... with no drain on vehicle performance. It honestly appears to me in my knowledge of wear-and-tear, that this Westy has never been camped in... all of it elements are just too nice... This Bus needs: ( CONS ) ...a driver, minor body work... ( as well as a paint job ), I noticed today while shooting pictures that someone has disconnected the A/C and/or Heater Pump ? ( belts are gone, hoses plugged, cables secured... )... There is a 1 inch chip in the formica top of range, a small cigarette burn hole in the rear seat, a small ding in the windshield ( not the BB hole type, looks more like a fingernail clipping... the repairable type )... there is a chipped corner of the ashtray on the dash, a 1 inch chip in the plastic on the front grill, it will need brake pads and shocks in the not-so-near/distant future.. ( this is my 15th VW, so I can see pads on the list soon. ), and just recently the windshield wipers stopped working... ( switch works, motor is heard, must have dropped a clip or something because they went from working to not ). Rubber seal at pop-up edge has separated and lost its desire to hang on any longer. If there were more negatives to announce I would most certainly do so... My trusted and 30 year experienced Volkswagen Mechanic was very impressed when I brought the bus in for the initial once-over after I purchased it... Haven't seen him since... (great runner).
