2002 was the first year of the Sports Coupe. It was a great driving quick car, mechanically identical to the SLK of the same year. In later models, it's replacement Sports Sedan was called "2.3," but the later models had engines with less torque and a little less horsepower. This car is loaded with leather seats, full moon roof, brand new brakes and 2 tires are brand new. Now for the problems:this car has significant electrical problems and the nearest Mercedes dealership is about 100 miles away from my current home. I 'm the original owner. It was purchased at Mercedes of Greenwich, CT. I've not been able to get the problems diagnosed or repaired. The module does not respond, which means it cannot at this point pass inspection. It has a six speed manual transmission, but the 5th gear synchro may need work. It has 96,000 miles and gets 32 mpg when running well. If you understand electronics or just want a good deal to fix your SLK, this is your car. The motor is perfect. It has a few dings. Please check photos. It has had a couple of trips to the body shop.
