SHELBY COLLECTORS...HERE IS YOUR CAR!! 1986 GLHS WITH ONLY ONE OWNER...ME!! 21,209 ACTUAL MILES...WELL DOCUMENTED!! 1987 MOPAR NATIONAL SHOW WINNER!! FIRST PLACE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE!! TOTALLY UNMOLESTED...GARAGE KEPT NEARLY IT'S WHOLE LIFE!! I've owned this GLHS since August 11, 1986 when I picked it up in New Orleans. It was a long, long wait to get this car...I put a deposit down in March or April...and then play the waiting game. There were several delays due to EPA certification of the engine after the cars became Shelby's. If fact, the dealership had received five 1987 Charger GLHS's before the 1986's arrived. Becuase I had been the first person to put down a deposit, I had my choice of the five GLHS's that arrived early in the morning of August 11, 1986. I went over all five cars carefully...and because they had been kicking around Shelby's place in California for months and months...all were less than perfect...little bumps, scratches and blemishes in the paint. They offered to send it to the body shop, but I wanted to keep it just the way it came...so after much looking and lots of stress, I settled in on #240. The car lived outside for the first year of it's life...Morgan City, Louisiana. In 1987 we moved to Knoxville, TN and bought a house...that's the last time the GLHS was parked outside. We moved around a couple of times, but always had garage space for my baby. In spite of only being outside when the weather was good (the car has never seen snow, and has never left the house in rain...but has been caught in the rain), like most mid-80's Chrysler products, the paint on the horizontal surfaces just faded away...and was peeling off the roof by the late 1990's. About six years ago I gave in and spent $3,000 to get the car painted. There was not even a trace of rust anywhere on the car...the painter couldn't believe it!! I bought new stripes, and the car now looks better than the day I picked it up...the body shop removed the couple of dings that came from Shelby. When you buy this car, you'll get several years of calendars that document every gas purchase with the mileage...after several years, I quit using the calendars and just started saving the gas receipts. There are also a few repair work orders from Jim Cogdill Dodge, in Knoxville, TN. As many of the GLHS's experienced, I had plenty of altenator issues with this car!! It had to have a new computer, and a wiring harness just before it ran out of warranty. It seems that at high RPM'S the altenator would go to full field and shut everything down. Other than this, the car hasn't had any problems! A few months ago it lost a shifter bushing...I found out that you can't just go and buy one...I had to purchase a rod end, and cut it apart to get the plastic bushing...but it worked and now shifts perfectly. All of the belts and hoses are original...they still look good, but who knows what is happening inside...I don't know that I'd want to make a long trip without replacing the belts and hoses! Also when you buy this car, you'll get the orignal owners manual and warranty paperwork...including the original dealer bill of sale and my first registration for the car. I'll even give you the car magazine that made me buy the car...the Hot Rod issue with "Shelby GLHS Whips GT-350" on the cover!! At the time I saw that magazine I had a 1983 Shelby Charger (that weren't real Shelby's) that I had bought new...and I knew I had to have the GLHS instead of my fun little Charger. Finally, when you buy this car, you'll be getting my 1987 Mopar Nationals trophy for winning 1st place in the front wheel drive class. As the car was being judged, one on the judges mentioned that because the car had a Fram oil filter he had to take off points and that it would likely keep it from winning...I told him to "hold on"...grabbed the Shelby Owner's manual showing that the car came from Shelby with the Fram filter...and because he didn't take off points for that...I won the class and the very cool trophy!! About the originality of this car...it still has Goodyear Gatorbacks on the wheels!! It still has the original exhaust!! It has the original brakes!! The spare tire has not been on the ground!! The original radio is still in the dash!! The cigarette lighter has never been used (and the car hasn't been smoked, eaten or drank in). It has never been modified in any way!! If you want even more pictures of the car, please contact me and let me know what you're hoping to see. I don't have a lift, but can jack the car up and crawl underneath for you if necessary. SO, IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT OWNING A PIECE OF SHELBY HISTORY THAT HASN'T BEEN BEAT TO HE** AND BACK AGAIN, THIS IS THE CAR FOR YOU!! I WELCOME YOUR COMING TO SEE THE CAR...I DON'T THINK YOU'LL BE DISAPPOINTED IN ANY WAY!! IF YOU CHECK MY FEEDBACK, YOU'LL SEE THAT IT IS 100% BOTH AS A BUYER AND A SELLER. I'VE SOLD A 440 ROAD RUNNER AND A HARLEY WITH BOTH BUYERS BEING VERY HAPPY!! Now, about the bidding process...please bid ONLY if you are a real buyer and have the funds to purchase this car. If you have feedback that is less than 100%, or have less than 5 transactions, you'll need to contact me before bidding. A paypal deposit in the amount of $500 is expected at the end of the auction, and I expect to have full payment within 72 hours of the end of the auction. Funds must be in US dollars!! Thank you very much for looking at this auction...is this isn't the car you're looking for, please tell a friend that might be interested. This would be the perfect addtion to the collection for someone that already has the Charger GLHS, the Lancer GLHS, or even an old Omni GLHS owner that wants to step up to a real Shelby!! On Oct-20-10 at 18:00:38 PDT, seller added the following information:Greetings to all you GLHS fans. As of 8:55 pm on Wednesday, there have been nearly 500 views and there are over 50 people watching this auction. This car does not have a low reserve...you'll need to start bidding to get up to the reserve. If the car doesn't sell here, I plan to fill out the paperwork for the Barrett-Jackson auction process. On Oct-23-10 at 15:48:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is the October 23, 6:30 pm EDT update for you: There are now over 1,000 views of this auction, and over 70 people watching. By the way, there is a dealer up north that has a 13,000 mile GLHS in Hemmings right now that is listed at $17,900, and doesn't have the paper trail that this one has, and of course it isn't a Mopar National class winner!! You could be the winner of this auction for less than 2/3 of that amount!!! Or, better yet...hit the "buy it now" button and buy mine for $18,000!!! Thanks again for looking and bidding...don't stop now!!On Oct-25-10 at 11:39:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Well, there are now 1,354 views of this auction and over 85 people watching. If you have questions about the car...now is the time to ask!! Don't wait until the last thirty minutes to start asking for details that I might not be able to answer that quickly. I'll respond to your questions as quickly as I can...if you're going to bid it's time to DO IT!! Remember...the reserve as WAY BELOW the "buy it now" price...let's get bidding and get past the reserve so we can see what's going to happen. Or, just use the "buy it now" button to end the suspense and make sure YOU are the winner of this great car!!
