Vehicle Detail

This bike has been stored for 20 + years, and started with fresh gas and a new battery after kicking her 5 or 6 times. Really runs rough though (see video below). Carbs probably need rebuilding at this point, maybe a wiring harness. It has been ridden, and probably needs to be taken apart and gone through thoroughly. The brake cylinders need rebuilding too (2 rebuild kits and pads supplied). Sheet metal has no dents or rust but of course is in need of paint. But the inside of the tank looks pretty good for being 33 years old. There are no oil leaks, the clutch has been rebuilt, and the rear chain and sprocket look good to me. Good restoration / project bike. Everything is here except the stock silencers. Also included is the SJ T-Shirt (never worn), the SJ owners manual, the ownership plaque, a spedo cable, the brake parts, a service manual and parts catalog. And there are front and rear Dunlop Red Arrows (see photos), that are in new condition. I've only seen a couple (2) of those on eBay the past 10 years and to spare you the asking, they won't be sold separate from the machine. The bike and all mentioned above will be included in the auction. Please contact me with questions. Thanks. On Oct-21-10 at 05:35:45 PDT, seller added the following information: I've been asked about my comment on the SJ's need of paint. This was in reference to a restoration to original condition. At present there are a few small blemishes here and there as might be expected on a machine with 16,000 miles. The silver paint has yellowed a bit (some call this patina) and the blue on the tank has visibly turned to a more teal color than original, as evidenced in the pictures. Also, my experience with the SJ is that the paint and pinstriping on the rims began to flake as soon as the bikes left showrooms and were ridden, as it is paint over chrome. These are all characteristics of this model. This bike could be made mechanically sound, and at present looks fine enough to be a conversation piece out on the road. The chrome engine covers are in excellent condition. Thanks for looking and bidding.
