Vehicle Detail

I made a three part Youtube video of this ambulance with a comprehensive view of everything, including a test drive for those of you who live out of town and do not have the benefit of seeing the ambulance prior to purchase.  Please check it out down below.  I hope this helps with your buying decision. Up for sale is a 2002 Ford E 450, Type III ambulance by Wheeled Coach.  This is the last year of the much desired 7.3 Liter Turbo Diesel engine.  Ford switched to the 6.0 Liter engine in 2003.  This vehicle was purchased from an ambulance company in Seattle, Washington, in the Spring of this year 2010, and used for the television shows, The Closer and Criminal Minds.  We drove it down from Seattle to Los Angeles without any issues.  It was serviced by studio mechanics in Los Angeles to insure it was "film ready."  It received new brakes, new batteries, new tension pulley, new paint, oil change, transmission oil change, differential oil change and the cooling system flushed.  It runs and drives great and it is ready to be driven anywhere.  If you are an out of state buyer, arrangements can be made to pick you up from the airport.  Fly in, drive it back to your hometown.   All emergency lights operate properly, along with the siren, air horn and PA system. The oxygen system and suction system work properly.  All emergency equipment is functional and works properly.  This ambulance is ready for continued service as a functional ambulance.   The air conditioning in the front and rear blows ice cold.  The AM/FM radio works great.  Power door locks, power windows, cruise control, windshield wipers, turn signals, headlights and high beams all work as they should.  There are no dents or dings in the body, no cracks or chips in the windshield, the tires have 40-50% tread left. Some of the interior lights have burned out bulbs, or they were disconnected.  I point those out in the video.  And the carpet in the cab has some wear.  The “jump seat” in the patient compartment has a two inch tear on the vinyl seat portion.  The bench seat and all other seats are in great condition.  The arm rests in the front cab are NOT broken and function properly. This vehicle is eight years old but very well maintained. This ambulance does not come with a gurney or cot, however, it does come with Stryker lock-down brackets that will accommodate a Stryker MX-Pro, PowerPro or EZ-Pro gurney.  We have the keys for all exterior compartments, and the key for the interior narcotics locker, located in the patient compartment.   The inverter was removed from the vehicle shortly after we received it to make room for props.  It is a Tripp Lite brand inverter.  I will include it with the sale, however, you will have to reinstall it.  I connected it to a battery.  The lights come on and it powers up.   The vehicle has approximately 143,000 miles on the odometer.  Less than half of its expected life expectancy.    This is an exceptional ambulance at a great price.  This same vehicle brand new runs about $140,000.  You can add this ambulance to your fleet for a fraction of that price.    This is far and away the nicest ambulance I have had.  Usually the ambulances I come across have 250-300k miles on the odometer.  The cabs are thrashed, worn seats, broken armrests, chips in the windshield, holes on the dash from mounted equipment or scuffed up with boot marks, things don't work - have to hold the turn indicator up or down to keep the indicator on, a window won't go up or down or does so painstakingly slow, AC blows hot air, the engine sounds like crap or like it's going to fall apart at high speeds, brakes squeak, black smoke pours from the exhaust, half of the emergency lights don't work, there's dings and dents all around the body, the rear bumper looks like it was used in a crash'em up derby.  That's the typical ambulance for sale out there.  I have had many of those and it's very costly to get them fixed up.  The vehicle I have for sale, however, has no such issues and is ready to be placed in service.  A working ambulance, camper, mobile office, plumber truck, toy hauler, etc. Ebay's vehicle records show that this vehicle was involved in an accident.  I have no knowledge or information about that.  It certainly was not involved in any incidents while I have owned it and the previous owner made no mention about an accident.  Moreover, there is no evidence anywhere on this ambulance of an accident.  The headlight lenses have some light oxidation from age, as well as the emergency lights in the grille.  Those components obviously have not been replaced.  The rear bumper is obviously original as apparent by oxidation from age on the aluminum.  That has not been replaced.  There is obviously no side impact damage on the cab or box.  Everything is straight.  The title is clear and clean, not salvaged.  So if it was involved in an accident it must have been very minor, or perhaps only cause damage to another vehicle, i.e. the mirror side-swiped another mirror of another vehicle or took paint off another vehicle.  Or it's possible it was not a vehicle vs. vehicle accident at all, but property damage, i.e. ambulance driver took down a residential mailbox, drove over a lawn, or perhaps hit a pet or a pedestrian.  It could be anything.  But there is no sign of new or replaced components anywhere.   If you live locally and would like to see the ambulance prior to purchase, contact me and I will make arrangements to show the ambulance for you.  The vehicle is located at a studio in Los Angeles.   Delivery of this ambulance to your location is possible if you are willing to cover the shipping cost.  Full payment would need to be made prior to the vehicle being shipped.  Depending on your location, we could have a driver drive the vehicle to you and fly back, or ship it on a truck.  And, of course, we will entertain all reasonable offers.  As such, we reserve the right to pull this listing at any time should the right offer come in.  This is not an auction so do not wait until the last day of the listing to make your move. Lastly, if you are looking to finance your next vehicle purchase, keep in mind that many finance companies will not finance a vehicle ten years old or older.  If you have your eye on a 2000 and plan to buy it cash and refinance it to get your money out, that may not be possible on vehicles older than 2001.  And if you have your eye on a 2001, you have less than three months before it reaches its ten year anniversary.  But this 2002 Ford E450 by Wheeled Coach still qualifies for financing or refinancing with most lenders.  Last year of the 7.3 liter turbo diesel.  If you are not aware of the problems associated with the 6.0 liter turbo diesel that came out in 2003, google "Ford 6.0 liter turbo diesel" and read the articles.   Thank you for looking.
