My 1993 Toyota MR2 Turbo needs a new home. I purchased this Teal/Turquoise MR2 Turbo from a dealership in Victorville for $7,500.00 in March of 2007 with 96623 miles on the odometer. These are great little cars and perhaps the last production "throwback" to a roadster of earlier eras, snug to the ground, tight on the wheel and with an extra kick of Turbo for speed. I enjoyed the car for most of the last three years and had some work done on it documented below. The car currently needs additional mechanical work, particularly to the Turbo part of the engine which is unworking and makes it difficult to attain normal freeway speed. I was quoted $2,000+ for the repair by my normal mechanic and have not had any further work done on it this year. As it happened I adopted a dog this year and a more functional VW Jetta was offered to me so I decided to end my sports-car fantasy life. There are some cosmetic issues that existed when I purchased the car I have not repaired or upgraded. There is wear to surface paint (see detail photos). Passenger door appears to be replacement that fits well but the repainted blue surface has peeled around the handle mainly to reveal red body paint underneath (see photo). Some light scratching, the car would greatly benefit from a completely new paint job. The T Tops (see photo) are nice and clean and fully lockable but the removeable sun shades lack complete mounting hardware and I have improvised with a tiny screwed in wedge to keep it secure and do minimal harm to the interior on the T section. The front bumper has a plastic shield underside attached to the car's undercarraige. This assembly has been damaged and holds together somewhat loosely as is but it is a part that should be replaced (photo shows driver's front corner section, add'l photos of middle and right sections show additional but less severe damage) Drivers seat leather was torn at time of my purchase, needs new upholstery (see photo). Passenger seat has not been used much and needs cleanup and oiling but seems like it could be restorable by new owner (see photo w/manuals). Shifting is a little tricky and the leather cover to the gearstick is lightly damaged (pic available). Interior carpet has extensive staining & needs replacement (see photo or inquire for slightly more detail). Weather stripped cushion for T-Tops have deteriorated enough to cause some leakage in the cabin during our infrequent rainstorms. Other hard plastic dashboard surfaces are in very good condition with no cracking or damaged finish, there is a custom cut Velcro attached cover (not pictured) to protect the dash from sun damage. Includes tools, original manual. Four custom rimmed tires (see info below on tire replacement) NO spare tire as purchased but there is room for one in the small front trunk (not pictured open). Repair History: 2/22/10 AAA Battery replacement w/72 month limited warranty $125.00 2/04/10 installed under engine panels with brackets (they were missing and required for driving in rain) $305.50 @ 122580 miles 12/10/09 replace exhaust manifold ($1.342.50) @ 121030 miles 2/27/09 diagnose and replace alternator ($384.96) @ 113613 miles 1/21/09 replaced engine mounts ($745.52) 12/18/08 new tires and tie rod ($825.83) @ 113390 miles 3/13/08 rear brake pads and hardware ($229.60) @ 109459 miles 3/5/08 replace right rear hub bearing ($369.82) @ 109274 miles 2/18/08 alignment/rotation by dealership ($107.45) @ 109,184 miles Above repairs performed by certified Toyota technician using mostly factory parts. The following major repairs were done prior to my ownership but I can provide those records and copies of my own receipts. 11/03/06 front brakes, previous tire set, etc approx 95,000 miles 10/13/06 Timing belt approx 95,000 miles 7/16/02 4 Konig Ziege custom rims installed @ 85,000 miles 7/19/01 previous tire set @ 73,000 miles Original Manufacturers Invoice w/Gas Mileage Info complete, original cost $28,741.00, in fine restored condition I have seen a similar color and model sell on eBay for about $10,000.00. Being offered AS IS with NO RESERVE. Most relevant pictures are shown but I can email picture packs to inquirers by email. The registration came due in August and I filed a certificate of planned non-operation with California DMV. The car is insured and a test drive could be arranged with advance notice and make apportionment of the re-registration cost. I possess the State of California title and it is ready to transfer upon completion of sale.
