1980 Triumph Bonneville

Up for sale is one used 1980 triumph bonneville T140 E.The bike is currently in pieces and not fully assembled.I have 95 % of the parts to put back together.This is a rare machine.There were only 400 of these imported that year.The EPA changed their emissions standards during that year and the triumphs could not meet the new standards.Triumph rerouted the shipment to Canada were they were titled as 1979's and bought to the U.S. from there.So the title says 1979 but when you research the serial # it is a 1980.Some 79 parts will fit but not all.I had trouble at first ordering parts until I found a triumph manual that had serial # and corressponding dates of manufacture.Still have the manual if you need to see for your own eyes.Feel free to ask any questions and I will answer as best I can.Some nuts and bolts and the veglia speedo drive is missing but available on ebay for about 65.00.Here is a pic of what it looks like now and whatt it looks like together.On Oct-16-10 at 08:08:48 PDT, seller added the following information: I have owned the bike since 1989 and rode it off and on thru 1995.Notice the rear brake caliper on top of disc instead of below, this occurred in mid 1979 and first appeared on the 1979 special which this bike is not but is similiar to, but again there are differences between the 79 1/2's and the 80's.The engine block themselves have a TDC sight plug that the 79's did not have.I used to go to the old british bike day in Onley,Md. and gained alot of valuable information about my bike.Seat has been recovered but seat pan is original.
