Vehicle Detail

Bidding Starts at just: $12,800 **** NO RESERVE**** (Buy it Now: $18,900) Rare 4-Speed Convertible with Sport Trim. This was a prize winner when it was new and was proudly displayed by the dealer at the All Ohio Corvette Weekend in 1975, as commemorated by a plaque fitted on the console above the shifter. This car still has it and it still turns heads. This stingray has been garaged in the mild climate of Southern California since the 1980’s and has the highly sought after blue California plates. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to own a rare piece of American muscle and an immediate classic for your collection and driving enjoyment. The engine runs beautifully, sounds great and starts up easily. This baby moves! She gets up and goes quickly, shifts smoothly, steers and brakes excellently, no shaking on the road or highway. SUPER Smooth ride. The engine compartment is clean and preserves the original appearance. The aluminum valve covers are understated and beautiful. High quality hoses and belts have also been installed. This stingray has only changed owners twice since sold in 1975. I have the service manual with all service and repairs since 1982 (28 years). The odometer works and reads 32857, and based on service records, this appears to be accurate. She has low miles on the rebuilt transmission, differential and new clutch, as well as flywheel resurfacing. Also less than 21000 miles on new cooling system, rear wheel bearings, air injection pump, new brake calipers, pads, suspension, distributor cap, wires, plugs, and new Edelbrock carburetor. A new alternator and battery were installed in the last 800 miles as well as new flasher (blinker). The stock Corvette rally wheels have new beauty rims, and the center caps are in beautiful condition. The white letter Radial G/T Road Hugger tires are also in great condition with plenty of tread life remaining. The stingray also has a brand new convertible top and all top hardware has been serviced, sanded and painted. The original radio is still in the dashboard to preserve original appearance, and it still lights up when the knob is turned on, but to enhance the driving experience, the tunes now come from a CD player and radio tuner fitted beneath the passenger side dash and include a remote for operation from the drivers side. Two 8x10 speakers in custom low profile boxes are fitted in the storage bay behind the seat, and allow for the convertible top to be lowered. It’s top down, radio up fun!!! The exterior and original interior are very beautiful and in very good overall condition, with only minor cosmetic deductions. I had new carpet (original loop saddle color) installed when the top was refinished). A serious collector wanting to purchase this car for shows may want to make some improvements to the exterior and interior finishes which have seen minor wear as expected from a classic car in drivable condition. The original exterior color of this car was orange flame, and a collector interested in authenticity may want to have the car returned to that original color. With that said, The beautiful deep red color has always received complements and you’ll have a hard time finding a more beautiful example of this car. The new owner will want to replace some hardware for the back of the drivers seat to allow it to be fully adjusted, and some trim pieces in the interior which are all original could be replaced unless they desire to keep those original components. The original light switch operates the lights on and off, but needs to be used in conjunction with the backup pull switch beneath the dash to raise and lower the headlight lids. This is rather common in these older stingrays, and it’s a minor replacement part or repair. Other than that, the vacuum system is in good condition, and the headlights pop up fast and lower quickly (no stuck headlights!). These issues have never bothered me too much because they don’t detract from the cars overall appearance or drivability and I feel are expected after 35 years. The car has L82 badges on both the hood and on the shifter console, but decoding the VIN number shows L48 as the engine option and the engine code matches and is CMM (manufactured in 1975, 350ci 165hp 4 LM1). This vehicle has a clear title, and no lien. It is being sold as-is, with no warranty, expressed or implied. As indicated in the description, the engine suffix code is CMM. Based on the code CMM, the engine was manufactured in 1975, and is a 350ci, 165hp 4 barrel LM1, this type of engine shares the same specs as an L-48 manufactured for factory installation in the 1975 stingray. I cannot confirm that this engine is original to the car, but the engine runs beautifully and has plenty of power. You will be proud to drive and show this car anyday. The winner of this auction will be getting an exceptional value even at the Buy It Now price which has been set more than $6,000 below the Nada Guides value for a 1975 convertible corvette in average condition.
