Vehicle Detail
Here is an original California Chevrolet C-10 stepside, shortbed pickup truck in original condition. I purchased this truck from the original owners family in Redding CA., 5 years ago. It was purchased at John Geer Chevrolet, in Redding CA. The license plate frame is mounted on the front. Always a California truck. There is very little rust on this truck. Truck appears to have all of its original sheetmetal. There are rust bubbles in the usual spots on the lower front fenders, I also found one cab support with a rust hole in it, but it is the only one I could find. The roof should be repainted if you want to protect the metal. Engine is original (283ci), original 4-speed transmission with compound (granny) 1st gear, orginal rear differential. The clutch is good, truck shifts fine. The pictures tell the story of how great the condition this truck is. The engine was rebuilt in 1994 when the truck had 197370 miles, now has 228365. I believe it was repainted at that time also. The quality of the paint work at the time was only fair to good. I have a receipt that shows the parts used for the rebuild. Currently the engine smokes somewhat, so it could be the valve guides that are worn. The truck has plenty of power and pulls very strong. Starts on the first try, no long cranking before start up. Engine compartment is clean. Brakes work well, steering is good, windows operate smoothly, all glass is original with the exception of the windshield. Seat upholstrey is excellent, the back is original and the seat bottom has been redone. New cardboard behind the seat to cover the fuel tank. Inner fenders date stamped from the factory (2/66). Factory inspection marks still present under the hood, and on the firewall. Original build sheet recovered from the seat back and the options list paper is still on the back of the glove compartment door. Installed factory radio, no speaker or antenna, installed new knobs on dashboard, cleaned instrument cluster plastic, instrument panel is bright at night. Dunlop tires are in very good condition, very few miles on them since being replaced. Spare tire matches the four on the truck. Tailgate is in very nice condition, opens and closes with ease. NOTE: Please be aware that the paint on this truck from the pictures here show it to be very good, but for a show look, the truck should be repainted. If you look closely at the pictures you will see the places where the paint is worn or not present. I drove it this way because I like the patina effect of the old paint. You may want to repaint for a show look. This truck gets plenty of attention in its current condition where ever it goes. Here is a list of parts I have replaced in the last few years: battery, battery cables, battery hold down bracket, battery backet bolts, rebuild carburetor, plug wires, spark plugs, ignition coil, distributor cap, ignition points, fan belt, air filter, rear bumper military side marker lights, replaced the broken wood slats in the bed with 3/4" finished plywood, painted dark gray oil base primer and finish coat, (new owner may choose different bed wood kit), radiator cab, fuel filler cap, fuel filler rubber neck Please email me with any questions you may have about this truck, its in wonderful original condition. If you have less than 5 positive feedback rating please email me before you bid. The reserve price will not be revealed during the auction. Transportation of this truck to its new owners location is the responsibility of the successful bidder. There are not warrantees or guarantees stated or implied on this truck. The current California vehicle registration is good until June 2011, there are no deliquent DMV fees due on this truck. I have the pink slip registration and the title is clean. A 500.00 deposit is required 48 hours after the auction closes. The balance is due with 10 days, the remaining funds may be paid in cash in person. If paying by money order or bank check, funds have to clear my bank before the truck is released to its new owner. Good luck with your bidding. Arnie
