Vehicle Detail
1979 CBX Super Sport Metalic Silver original paint and original owner. Fastest street production bike of it's time with SIX cylinders! Only made for four years and this was the first production year with the highest (105) horsepower. Only 12,745 miles. Purchased new on April 13, 1982 from East Bay Honda at 3060 Broadway, Oakland, CA 94611. I wanted the first model year with the highest horsepower. Have all original receipts, servicing and repairs. Speedometer was replaced and shows just 162 miles, but I have the original speedometer. Has not been driven actively since 1985 and always garaged. Has original front tire, but rear tire replaced. Original sticker price $3,780.42 Spent $5,220 ($2,200 parts; $3,020 labor) on complete overhaul June 3, 1998 by Honda Plaza Cycles Limited at 1833 Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11230. Driven minimally since. Appraised at $9,718 on January 17,1999 by The Bergen Appraisal Company, Westwood, NJ 07675 stating that "This motorcycle is in excellent condition with no damage and has been completely rebuilt from front to back". I have ALL documents and ALL receipts. All 100% genuine Honda bike with always 100% genuine Honda replacement parts! Please don't let this scare you, but in the interests of full disclosure, I dropped the bike just once at 5 miles/hour back in 1985 and the lower left corner of the engine had a tiny crack that was professionally welded. Small quarter-sized dimple in gas tank lower left front due to handle bar is barely noticeable from same aforementioned incident. More recently the fiberglass back end ($225 new if you can find it) developed a significant crack when a cardboard box was stored on it and will need to be replaced; the seat cover has split and the fuel petcock ($80 new if you can find it) leaks when in the "on" or "reserve" position. Battery new. Cylinder pressure tested as follows: 160 Cyl 1; 145 Cyl 2; 135 Cyl 3; 160 Cyl 4; 155 Cyl 5; 160 Cyl 6 on October 25, 2000 by Fun Bike Center, San Diego, CA. Pressure a little low in Cyl 2 and 3, but deemed okay by mechanic. Has barely been driven since this last inspection/tune up. Payment:Deposit of US $300.00 within 24 hours of auction close. Full payment required within 7 days of auction close.Shipping:Buyer responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping.Vehicle shipping quote is available.Coverage:This vehicle is eligible for up to $50,000 in Vehicle Purchase Protection- opens in a new window or tab. (Not eligible for eBay Buyer Protection) I will coordinate with shipper on this end, but will not pay for shipping as this is a steal. Looking for a good home for this rare, low mileage classic. Really hard to part with my baby after 28 years! You will have a blast with this unique machine. On Oct-08-10 at 00:00:51 PDT, seller added the following information:The May/June1998 overhaul included dozens of items, but the main ones were new shocks; weld tiny crack; chrome top of engine; coil assembly ignition; new speedometer as fogged up; polish parts; new head lamp and case; new petcock assembly; various gaskets; full tune up, battery, etc.
