Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is an extremely rare and unusual 1968 Pontiac Tempest Custom station wagon (1of 500) that has been made to look and perform like a GTO. This is the way GM would have done it had they decided to build them back in 1968. In addition to the GTO sheet metal, here are the other GTO and performance options added to this car. -Stock Pontiac 400 cubic inch, 4 barrel engine, approx. 9.0:1 compression ratio (rebuilt 40K miles ago). Edelbrock dual plane intake & carb. -Chrome valve covers and air cleaner lid -Turbo 400 transmission with mild shift kit (rebuilt 10K miles ago) -Chevy 10-bolt rear, 3.08 ratio non-posi -GTO front bucket seats, black interior -GTO Hurst dual gate (His 'N Hers) floor shifter -GTO steering column (non-tilt) -GTO wood wheel -GTO rally gauges -GTO rally clock -GTO console -GTO hood mounted tachometer -GTO hide-away headlights (vacuum) -GTO emblems and decals -Rally II 15 inch wheels with Coker redline radials in like-new condition -4-wheel disc power brake set-up from 1980's Pontiac Trans AM -Boxed lower control arms -Front and rear sway bars -Air shocks/bags -Factory AC system converted to R134a -Power steering -Power windows (including rear window) -Power locks -"Shaved" rear handle tailgate -Dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers -Towing package with wiring -Aftermarket JVC CD player/AM/FM stereo with 4 speakers This car is a real head turner. I have owned numerous muscle and classic cars and get more compliments and attention with this car than any other I have owned. It's unique and not something you see at every car show. The exterior is in great condition. The paint is a clear coat / base coat done in Pontiac Lucerne Blue done about 4 years ago. The body is straight and the paint is glossy. No dents or defects. One or two hairline cracks around one door handle and Endura front that are hardly noticeable. One small blemish under the driver's door that is barely visible. I want buyer to know everything about this vehicle. One floor pan was professionally replaced at one time. Chrome is very nice. The black interior is also excellent. Carpet is nice and there are no holes or rips in the upholstery. Headliner is good except for 1 or 2 small rips. Dash is in good condition. The 400 cubic inch engine runs great. It starts, idles, and runs well. Uses no oil and no leaks. Block is YT and heads are 5C. The tranny works fine. Everything works on this car except the clock and the needle on my gas gauge has disappeared. It may have fallen off. I have not had time to address it. It may have to be replaced if it can't be found and reattached. I have also ordered a new horn switch for the wood wheel that will go with the car. AC blows cold. Bottom line is that this is a really nice and unusual car that you can buy for a reasonable price (about half the price of a real GTO in similar condition) and I promise you that you will get a lot more attention with it than you would a regular GTO coupe. It looks great and is an excellent Saturday night cruiser. I have owned the car for approx. 2 years and am selling only to make room for another vehicle. Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Car is in very good condition as stated but is being sold "as-is" with no expressed or implied warranties. Pick-up and/or shipping are the responsibility of the winning bidder. Check my feedback rating. No negatives. Buy from a trusted and proven eBayer. Please contact me via eBay e-mail or call me at 407-808-4044 if you have any questions. My name is Rich. On Sep-14-10 at 18:55:05 PDT, seller added the following information: This car also has the very rare "reel-out" light that can be seen in the engine pictures. This light enables the car-owner to work on it or to change a flat tire at night. A toggle switch was placed along the inner fender area to turn the light on and off. A nice feature that I failed to mention in the ad.
