Vehicle Detail

For sale is a 1987 Chevy Suburban Diesel with ONLY 170,000 miles on it. Diesels can easily last for 200,000-300,000 miles so there is plenty of life left in this suv. This car has the tailgate version, two full bench seats, tinted windows in the back Good: 5 newer tires in great condition (including one full size spare inside the truck) Engine runs great, transmission shifts great only 170,000 miles 2 newer batteries (one put in one year ago, the second put in two years ago) Big, quality, rebuilt starter put in just 1 month ago! New 40 gallon tank put in less than 1 year ago New battery cables/terminals put in less than 1 year ago New inside lights put in less than 1 year ago Recent oil change All windows go up and down Tailgate and all doors open Bad: A lot of rust - this is a 23 year old suv that used to be a farm vehicle. There is quite a bit of rust but it does not affect the drivability of the car Some things are unfinished/missing including: the horn, radio, and flashers - they all work but are not wired. One headlight is out. The front quarter window (small triangular one) is missing. I have duct tape and cardboard taking it's place. It does not let in water or cold air. The dashboard lights need to be replaced - they are not very bright at night. There is no carpet behind the second row of seating and some of the pieces have been removed to get to the wiring. The tailgate will open, but the window needs to be manually pushed down (it needs a new motor - you have to push the window button down, then push a little on the window and it will go up and down). The tailgate itself opens fine but the handle does not work - you need to manually pull the lever to unhook the tailgate. I believe it needs new glow plugs (when you charge them it starts up fine, but as it gets colder it sometimes needs to charge for a long time as I think a couple of the glow plugs do not work properly) Conclusion: This is a great SUV for the price. I have taken it on several 1200 mile trips. The last trip I took it on was 550 miles (10 hours at 55 mph) without stopping! That means no stopping for fuel, food, restroom nothing! It went straight through, did not overheat, had no issues at all and drove perfectly. Not to mention it gets 22 MPG Highway! That was even with a full load inside. This is a great Diesel suburban that will last a long time. It can drive between 800-900 miles on the highway between fill-ups. It has a lot of recent work done. There are a few small things that it will need to be perfectly running but they are all cheap. This car may need to be plugged in to get it started up but once it starts you can drive it forever without stopping! The reserve is low on this car. I have over $3,000.00 invested in this SUV so I am taking a big hit selling it. However I am moving from the city and need a smaller, more fuel efficient car (22mpg is great for an SUV but I want a car with 40mpg!) Unfortuantely I do not currently have more pictures than just the one but I will work on gettting addtional pictures. If you have anything in particular you want to see please let me know. Thanks, Dan
