1981 VOLKSWAGEN WESTFALIA CAMPER. ALL ORIGINAL, 100 % RUST FREE VEHICLE!!! CLEAN NM TITLE!!!!! RUNS EXCELLENT Up for auction is a 1981 Volkswagen Westfalia camper of which I am the second owner. I know the full history of this vehicle from new. This vehicle was bought new in New Mexico. It left the state for lubbock (western) Texas 15 years ago. The original owner passed away 8 years ago and it sat under a carport for those years. I bought it from his estate as a non running vehicle with 58365 miles on it. Up until the original owners death the vehicle was meticulously maintained, and only used as secondary transportation and camping trips. The miles are true. After I got it home it was throughly cleaned and detailed. Brand new tires were installed and breaks were inspected as good and bled. All fluids were changed with fully synthetic oil. Valve cover gaskets were replaced. Fuel system was drained and cleaned. Currently the Westy runs excellent and strong with Zero smoke, no noises. It starts right up cruises down the road at 70 all day long. This westy has an automatic transmission that shifts beautifly with ease. No slipping or jerking. The interior is in great shape. the seats both front and rear are excellent and un-torn. The stove cover has a hairline crack going down the length of it but does not stop it's function. Brand new vinyl on the rear floors. The refridge door does not shut properly because of the plastic strip has buldged out a bit. A minor fix. I have invested over 1.5k into the vehicle in the past month and feel confident enough for you to fly here and drive it home. Seal around pop top sections 3. Break system drained and bled. 4. New flooring in rear. 5. All fluids. 6. Valve cover gaskets. 7. New battery OVERVIEW: Exterior: Clean and 100% rust free. The paint is original and currently in good shape but is fading in some places. Front storage fiberglass section on top has a hole in it about 2 inches long and 1.5 inches wide. You cannot see it unless you are on top of bus. Interior: All original and clean: nothing missing. Dash has been cut for a radio (see pic). Perfect headliner. Camper interior equipment: Everything is there. Nothing missing. I have not messed with the camping equipment. I do not know if the refridge, sink or stove works. But all looks to be in great shape and functional. Pop Top: Original and in good shape, no tears, but is getting dry. Screens on canvas top do have holes on them. mechanism is perfect. Electrical: Everything but the gas guage works as it should with no problems. speedo works as does the milage counter Tires: Brand new tires from Discount tire co. 185-75-14. Glass: all excellent with no cracks or chips. Bads: Small leak from engine, about size of nickel after you turn it off. Dont know where it is comming from. front carpet is gone needs a new set. Every company I tried to order it from says it is on back order. Overall this is a great westy. I would feel super confident jumping in and taking it cross country.
