1957 CHEVROLET STEPSIDE PICKUP TRUCK Up for sale today is a 1957 Chevrolet Stepside pickup truck. It is a short bed and I believe 1/2 ton. I bought this off Ebay back in 2007 and rolled it into my garage thinking I would have time to restore it. Unfortunately, the most time I spent doing anything was rolling it out and wiping the dust off to take pictures. This will be a great truck for someone to restore over the winter! I believe all of the sheet metal is original except for the hood (looks like a '55 hood) as there looks to be the same darker blue paint poking out from beneath the teal paint wherever there are scratches or dents. This is a fifty some year old truck, so there are some spots of rust and a number of dents around - definately not show, but good enough for grocery getting. I'd guess someone did a restoration sometime in the late 80's or 90's looking at the iroc style wheels, etc. I was told that the front clip and rear axle are from a 1978 Nova. The front clip and frame looks like it was modified solidly to me, but I'm no expert. I was also told that the 305 V8 engine and 700r4 transmission are from a 1983 c20 van. The previous owner removed the original drive train and put this combo in. I think that the drivetrain needs to be moved back closer to the firewall. I turned the engine over by hand, so it is not locked up. Previous owner did a gasket job and painted the engine and transmission. The driver's side window is broken and doesn't roll up or down. Both vent windows are cracked. The passenger side window is intact and rolls up and down. Both front and rear windows are intact. The seat is from an s-10 extreme. Someone welded a steel floor in the bed. I do have a '57 hood laying in the bed. It does have some rust holes, but I think it is salvageable in the right hands. I'm sure there was body filler used in the previous restoration. A chunk has already fallen off of the passenger side cab corner, so I'd guess there is some on the driver's side as well. The doors do open and shut fairly well. There is a Mississippi inspection sticker on the window from 2000. I have done my best to describe the truck, but I'm sure I have overlooked plenty of things - please ask questions before bidding! If you need a pic - send me your email address with your question.
