Vehicle Detail

Up for bidding with NO RESERVE is a beautiful classic 1952 Dodge Coronet 6 passenger 4 door sedan. I have owned this car since 1996 and it has been garage kept ever since. Over the years I have treated this car just like a member of my own family. She will be sorely missed! I rescued this car from the scrap heap in New Jersey as it was literally hours away from being crushed for scrap metal. When my kids were younger we would drive to cruise nights and car shows together. Now that they are all grown, I don't have the same enthusiasm or time that I once had to keep up with the restoration. My hope is that someone who really appreciates classic Dodge automobiles will purchase this car and experience the same enjoyment I have had as it's owner over the years! This 103 HP, flat head six cylinder D-42, 230.2 cubic inch engine is powered by a gyromatic transmission (fluid drive) with only 76,580 original miles. It is equipped with a fully functional 6 volt, positive ground electrical system. There were 61,000 original miles on the car when I purchased it in 1996. I found out that the car was purchased brand new in 1952 at Bishop, McCormick & Bishop new car dealership in Brooklyn, New York. It still has the original chrome dealership medallion on the rear trunk. This car is solid and looks and drives great! I have well over $8,000 invested in this car since I have owned it. I have all original receipts to substantiate the work that has been done to the car. Upon purchasing the car the color was black, faded, and in very poor condition. I had it repainted a bright metallic black. There are approximately 24 pieces of ornamental chrome that have been re-chromed. The bumpers are original and have not been re-chromed. The doors open and close smoothly with 'vault like' tightness and no leaks. The gas tank was dropped, cleaned, coated and replaced with new fuel line. The exhaust system was replaced. The shocks were replaced as well as the clutch. The valves in the engine were replaced at 69,000 miles. The brakes were replaced recently and only have about 2,000 miles on them. Over the years I have either replaced or rebuilt virtually every component under the hood to include the battery and cables, plugs, wires, points, condenser, rotor, cap, ignition switch, starter, solenoid, generator, coil, voltage regulator, carburator, kick-down switch, hoses, clamps, belts, and gaskets. I have not performed any work on the interior. The interior condition is exactly the way I recieved it when I purchased it in 1996. The headliner is original with some minor tears and stains. The seats are covered with red seat covers. All of the floorboards inside the car are original with some minor surface rust and pitting. The driver's side floor has some sheet metal riveted on top and was work done by the previous owner. The entire interior floor is covered by a red carpet. The undercarriage is in decent condition for it's age with some surface rust but no holes or any major deterioration. The car was garage kept at all times by me and I never drove it in rainy or snowy conditions. The body and paint is in good condition with some normal wear but no holes or rust. There are a few issues with the car that I am 100% sure about that will need to be addressed by any potential new owner. The car will need four new tires. The Coker Classic wide whitewall 760-15's that are presently on the car are very worn and will need to be replaced. The gas tank will need a new sending unit so that the gas guage works properly. The passenger side window has a hairline crack in it and has been there ever since I bought the car, however the window doesn't leak and all of the windows roll up and down smoothly. I had the vibrator type AM radio rebuilt some years ago and it was working for quite awhile but now it no longer operates. There also appears to be a small leak in the front oil seal under the engine that will need to be replaced. It loses approximetely a 1/4 qt. of oil every four or five months but does not affect the performance of the car. In the 14+ years that I have owned the car, I have only put a total of about 15,000 miles on it! These are the only issues that I am aware of. I am an honest person and I wanted to be upfront with everything possible about the car. This is a very nice classic Dodge automobile and a real head turner! If you have any further questions or need any more photos please contact me and I will be happy to help you out. I am including with the purchase of this vehicle, a car cover, electric waxer/buffer, California Car Duster, 6 volt battery charger, original glovebox owners manual, used reproduction shop manual, and a small box of some spare miscellaneous parts.
