PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION AND VIEW ALL PHOTOS PRIOR TO BIDDING/BUYING. THANKS! For Sale By Owner: 1966 Rambler Classic 550 4 Door Sedan. I purchased this car in June and intended to use it as my nice weather cruiser, however, I was accepted to police academy and began in July (and graduate in December) and literally haven't had time to drive or enjoy it. Aside from taking the car to 2 local cruise nights in July, the car has sat in the garage since the day I brought it home. So, I figure it would be best to sell to someone who has time to enjoy it. I purchased this car from the family who owned it for 25+ years. The car has 69,XXX original miles on it. It features an inline 6 cylinder and three-on-the-tree. See below for more detailed description & photos. I don't know much about old cars and have never had an AMC product, but I have done my best to describe it. Feel free to ask any questions. I have a clear title for the car in my name and will also provide a bill of sale. A $250 non-refundable deposit is due via paypal within 24 hours of auction end - no exceptions! Remainder of balance due withint 7 days. Car must be picked up within 7 days unless other arrangements are made. Exterior & Body This Rambler is finished in its original Woodside Light Green paint. The previous owner said the car received a repaint in 1991. The body of the car is very clean and very solid with only a tiny bit of bubbling in the paint here and there along the bottom of the car, and some very minor surface rust in spots around a couple of the wheel wells that could easily be sanded off. The underbody was undercoated at some point many years ago but has some underneath especially in drivers side floor. The doors, trunk, and hood all open and close as they should. The doors and door jam areas are super clean! The glass is in excellent condition with no cracks. The antenna works well. The chrome and stainless is presentable. The rear bumper has a slight dent in it. The car is equipped with a light duty hitch and electrical, the previous owner said his father-in-law towed a small fishing boat. The car is straight and solid and presents well. The whitewall tires look like new. Interior The rambler is equipped with its original interior. The dash, door panels, headliner, and sun visors are in excellent condition. The glass is in excellent condition and the windows and vent windows all work as they should. All guages work but original clock is missing. Original radio works well. The original seats are present under the seatcovers and are a very neat black and tan material, they are like new in some places and well worn in others. SMS makes reproduction material. The front seat features 2 seatbelts. The original black rubber floor is present but worn and cracked in some places, and the floor has some rust especially around the drivers side front floor. Engine & Mechanicals The Rambler is equipped with an inline 232 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine and 3 speed manual transmission. I have noticed zero leaks or drips and no fumes or smells. The car starts, idles, and runs well, and holds its own on the freeway at 75mph. The lights, signals, wipers, guages, and radio all work just fine. The car stops, brakes, and handles well. Previous owner installed new exhaust. I had an oil/filter/lube job performed and the carburator disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt. Car includes 3 sets of keys and original brochure and shop manual. The car just started having trouble shifting. I think this car has a "self adjusting clutch" and needs to be adjusted, but I'm not sure, it feels like it slips. Sometimes it shifts fine, sometimes not at all, and sometimes somewhere in between. So the car needs to be trailered or towed home unless you're going a short distance. Fine Print and Disclaimer I have done my best to describe the condition of this car accurately and I have provided photos. If you have any questions or concerns, would like additonal information or photos, or would like to view the car in person, please inquire prior to bidding and/or purchasing. Please understand that this car is sold as-is, where-is, with no guarantees, warantees, or assurances of any kind, sort, or type, expressed, written, or implied. Please understand that all sales are final. eBay auctions are expensive, so please, if you are not sincere about following thru with the purchase, please do not bid. Buyer is responsibile for picking up car and all associated transportation costs. Please ask any questions and resolve any concerns PRIOR to bidding. A $250 non-refundable deposit must be made within 24 hours of auction end via paypal. The remainder of the balance is due upon pickup and must be in form of cash. I will provide a bill of sale and clear title. Thanks, and good luck!
