1977 BMW R-100 RS in original condition, vin# 6180-130 The bike is re-listed again. The last week buyer failed to come-up with required funds For sale is a very desired by serious collectors, early and original BMW model 1977 R100RS, the very first year of production October 1976, one of 500 units manufactured for the USA market between August ’76 and February 1977. This early examples are of special interest to collectors. They come with 40 mm carburetors, 40mm exhaust system and tall rear drive gears 32/10. With the tall gear this model was clocked at 137 mph. Around February of 1977 the Factory de-tuned the R100RS, and fitted it with 38mm carbs and exhaust system, along with different rear drive gear. The de-tuned R100RS has come to be known as the”CFO”. For the year 1977 about 500 40mm bikes were produced for USA, along with about 700 “CFO” version. I’ve purchased this particular bike for my collection in 2007 from California. It is an honest, strong, original machine without any changes or alterations in good driving condition, less than 42,000 miles. No leaks dry like desert sand, very good brakes, original paint except gas tank, new battery, decent tires (see pictures), original keys, some rust spots here and there including mufflers, all electrical system works, except temperature gage (the sensor in oil pane has to be replaced) the gage works. Charging is strong. Original wire wheels and two Luftmaister hard cases. Fairing has original paint with some paint chips-off but no signs of cracks or dropping the bike. Original German first aide kit. Over all a good solid machine in original condition, I drive it lately every weekend. This bike is 33 years old and is sold in “as is” condition without any written or implied warranty. I may deliver within 150 mile from Madison Wisconsin for $70.00 additional charge for gas.
