This is probably one that you may never again see available. Listed for auction is a 1963 R2 4-Speed Studebaker Daytona Wagonaire! From the research available to me, there appears to only have been a small handful of these cars built (I was able to find 8 but have been told by others there were 11) with three known survivors. With the number of these cars out there, it almost makes an R3 Avanti seem commonplace. I bought this car several years ago and had planned to take it to the grave with me. Unfortunately, circumstances have changed and I am going to have to let this extremely desirable and rare car leave my posession. I know I will never find another available again. The car is in what would be described as "barn fresh" condition. From the last license plate on the car, it appears it has not been registered to drive on public roads for 31 years. It is nearly complete and in very restorable condition. Sometime before I bought the car, a previous owner had removed the supercharger, mounts, and 4-barrel carburetor. After I bought it, I was able to obtain all the supercharger mounts and they are back on the car. It will still need to have the supercharger itself as well as the carburetor and intake changed out to make it correct. This car does still have the factory 4-speed transmission in place as well as the Twin Traction rear axle. When I bought it the cover had been removed from the rear differential but nothing inside looks missing or damaged. The Daytona still has the factory engine in place (JTS1403) as well as all the factory options it was built with. These include Power Disc Brakes, Hill Holder, Electric Rear Window, Tailgate Step, Tachometer (Avanti style as this was a pre-package car), and 4-Speed Transmission. Originally, this car was painted Silver Mist with blue and white vinyl interior. At some point in its life, it was repainted Blue Mist but the Silver Mist is still seen where the paint is flaking and under the carpets/seats. The frame is in good, solid condition, the floors appear to be in above average condition for an unrestored car, the interior is complete but worn. All glass is in place and all doors/windows open and close. The last time I had the engine running on the car was in the fall of 2006. I only ran it long enough to verify that it did run and that there was no knocking or other abnormal noises in the engine. Please do not take this as a guarantee the engine is ready to start and run as-is. In my opinion, the car is in need of a complete mechanical restoration before it is run or driven. I will be more than happy to assist in any way I can in working with getting the car transported. Payment will be due within 7 days of the auction's end.
