PLEASE READ CAREFULLY! What you see here is a Very Rare and Beautiful 1991 Mercedes Benz SL 500 Convertible in Black with Gray Interior and both Soft/Hard Tops. What I am about to tell you is all the recent history of the car to the best of my knowledge during our time of ownership. Honesty is my only policy!!! Even though this is my first vehicle I have listed for sale the principle of my selling standards are the same with all my other auctions and I will never sell any item short of what it actually is nor will I give it more respect than it deserves. Please keep that in mind. Here is the story. In the car report, it states this vehicle of having 4 owners. Actually, it really is a 2 owner car. We bought this car back in 2005 in Florida from an individual who had this car in his family and only transferred ownership once to another family member. This car was bought for my mother in Florida in 2005 and we kept it down in South Florida as a vacation car to use only when we went to Florida. My uncle who lives in Miami and works for Mercedes at the time maintained this car and drove it once every month or so and kept this car in great shape. Since he maintained the car he registered it in his name. My mother had some health problems last year so we decided to bring the car up here to Tennessee back in August of 2009 for her to enjoy. I went down to Miami to pick up the car and experienced the unexpected. My uncle basically gave this baby a brand new makeover. The car had a brand new paint job all black all over with AMG and sport decals and door farings. Brand New custom polished 18 inch SL wheels in black with Pirelli tires the version from the newer model SL $3,000 worth. On top of that a brand new battery, radiator, windshield and tuneup. It basically looked brand new again. Just to note. This car is free from damage of any kind of accident. We had it painted just for the fact that the paint was starting to fade so we wanted to give it a new slick look. I drove it back home to Tennessee and it drove 100% perfectly smooth. Unfortunately, my mother had more health problems and neither my father or I had the time to drive it so the car just stayed in the garage for 7 months. Finally, in April 2010 we registered the car. On the way to the vehicle emission center my father noticed the mileage on the speedodometer got stuck so he tapped the top of the dashboard with his hand and it eventually started working again. That was the first time that occured for us because I drove the car from Miami and everything was working then. My father and I have owned many older model mercedes in the past that have the manual instrument clusters and from our experience they can stop and most don't ever work again. They say there is a mechanism that controls the cluster and it can stop due to the aging of the car or even the lack of use. Maybe that was the case in this situation with the car sitting for 7 months. My guess is as good as yours. Go figure. With that said the car had 55,221 miles at that time in April. As of today it has 55,499 miles. I'm estimating It should have around 55,600 to 56,000 miles if it had never stopped but the true miles are unknown (TMU). The miles work now but I cannot guarantee it will keep working due to the age of the car. The second thing is the A/C only works sometimes. We had the A/C charged but sometimes it would work and sometimes not. I've been told the blower needs to be repaired. The last thing is the top works but it only operates manually like the older Mercedes. The motor works on the top because you can hear it. My father told me the hydraulic system needs to be fixed. Besides these three setbacks the car has three minor minor cosmetic issues but nothing major. It is missing the left driver side inside cover for the side mirror. This is the piece inside the car door that is suppose to cover the side mirror. The second issue is a very small dent on top of the hard top on the driver side beside the windshield about a thumb print in size. The last issue is a small scratch on the passenger side of the hardtop beside the rear back glass. It is about an 1.5 inches small. The last two pictures show the small dent and scratch. You can not even notice the minor issues from a far only up close. With all that said excluding the setbacks above the car is 100% mechanically sound from a driving perspective. She rides and drives like new and everything else works! No, this car does not have a warranty but it is worthy of one. It is that smooth of a ride!!! It is a sure head turner. I got complimented everytime I took it out! The car will be Sold As-Is No Warranty. No Returns!!! No reserve so Final Bidder wins!!! A $500.00 deposit is required within 48 hours of sale. Buyer must pay in full within 7 days of sale through cashiers check or money order from certified bank. Cash payers are welcome only in person. Please keep me informed of the method you wish to choose. Once payment is fulfilled title will be sent by Fedex overnight with authorized signature or in person if for individual pickup. Buyer is responsible for the delivery and pickup of this car. We do not want to sell this car but due to my mothers health and this bad time in our economy we have to let this Black Beauty go.
