1997 Dodge Ram 2500 Standard Cab Long Bed SLT 4x4 Impossible to Find 12 Valve Standard Cab, Runs out Great! Cold A/C, Nice Tires, Leveling Kit, Automatic + Shifts Well, 22mpg? 3.5 Gearing, Very Rare Truck! year 1997 drive train 4x4 make Dodge ext color Silver / Green model Ram 2500 int color Tan sub model Regular Cab Long Box 4x4 SLT vin 1B7KF26D7VJ514121 engine 5.9 Liter 12 Valve Cummins Turbo Diesel 6-CYL mileage 293477 transmission Automatic OD stock # AC10583 about This is one hard to find truck. It was recently traded at a local new car franchise where we know some guys. They don't sell 293k mile pickups, so we bought it from them. There's simply none of these around. If you're looking at it I don't need to explain the 12 valve to you, wholly grail of diesel motors. The truck is in very nice shape for the age and mileage, it drives surprisingly well. It doesn't smoke, interior is pretty nice, paint is fairly newish, tires and wheels and leveling kit really make the truck! Yep it has a bunch of miles, but there's no reason you can't get another several hundred thousand out of it. This is the right truck, fair price, and one you probably won't see for sale again for a very long time. exterior The truck looks awesome for the age and mileage. It's been repainted at some point, probably 50k miles past? It's not an award winner, but most people will think it looks nice. There's no bubbling body rust and no hail damage. The truck has spent the majority of its' life here in Colorado and we don't salt the roads here. You won't find a 97 Dodge this rust-free (even under) in any great lakes, back east, or costal states. The wheels look nice and tires have superb tread, very deep. The bed liner has been in for a while, looks fair. The windshield is good, no cracks or bad chips. The doors and tailgate open and close easily. The truck has road wear on the lower rockers from the big tires. The hood has 1 ding. The grille is pretty tired, our cost is about $100 for a new one if you'd like it. There's some small marks and superficial scratches as to be expected. The paint has some orange peel to it, not terrible though, it may color sand out. The photos document everything, again, nice for the age and mileage. interior The interior is pretty nice. It has burn marks on the door upholstery and a couple little ones on the seats but it doesn't smell like smoke. I'm picky. The drivers seat bolsters have been reupholstered, looks nice. The passenger seat had a little tear that we hemmed, steering wheel could stand to have a cover. The air blows cold and stereo sounds great for the age. Yep, dash has a crack, just 1 which is far less than most of these do. Everything works including the cruise control. Someone loved this truck. You don't get to 300k by not taking care of it. Carpet shows aging, headliner a little so-so, just the little stuff. mechanical I used this truck for about an hour today running errands. It was 90 degrees and it ran great. The motor fires up nicely and it idles very smooth. It's not rattly at all, I can't remember the last time I heard a rattly 12 valve, probably one of the strongest motors America has ever built. (I did hear a rattly 24 valve today at the auction with 280k on it. 12 Valve or bust. :) The truck just had the oil changed and filters. The brakes are well over 1/2 life front and rear remaining. The ball joints and tie-rod ends are pretty reasonable, truck is easy to drive, slight steering play as to be expected. It has good power and lift pump is great, never sputters. These trucks are ALL mechanical, very easy to turn them up if that's what you're after. This truck has not been modified though. We had to replace the fuel level sending unit on the truck, otherwise didn't need much. The transmission shifts nicely, never missed for me at all. This truck when very cold takes just a few seconds at idle before you get full transmission power. It doesn't chunk or clunk, just doesn't respond fully until after a tiny bit of idle. When it's warm and all the fluid is circulating properly it's very responsive. This is perfectly normal for an older diesel truck, they take forever to warm any fluids simple because everything is so overbuilt. All that being said, the truck is nice. Not new or perfect, but it's a solid 12 valve someone loved forever. I think it's got another 300k to go, but it will not be sold with warranty, simply because of the age and mileage. Come out and drive it if you can and make sure it's what you want. comments This is a neat rig and I'm happy to have it. We know you'll be pleased. We guarantee clean title. It is our experience and our volume that allows us to sell vehicles at lower prices than most businesses on EBay or off, but please know that the phrase "You get what you pay for." is constant in both the real world and the car business. All vehicles are sold "AS IS" unless otherwise specified. Local residents of Colorado must pay taxes at our dealership, but will not have to pay them again when going to register the vehicle. There is a $199 transfer and handling fee for local residents only. It costs us more money to sell vehicles locally and this fee is non-negotiable. Out of state buyers are charged no extra fees at all, what you bid is what you pay. Again, all vehicles are for sale locally, and before the end of the auction. Just because you are the high bidder doesn't mean you have the vehicle reserved. EBay allows us the option of ending auctions early because all vehicle are for sale at any point during the auction. If you are concerned, the buy it now option is always a good idea. In very rare instances, (once or twice in over a thousand transactions), the vehicle is being sold locally while someone has pressed the buy it now. You're welcome to call before you bid, we thank you, Happy EBaying! Masters Collection 10672 S.
