Vehicle Detail

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Pro Street SS clone Please take a few minutes to read my detailed description and to view videos of a start up and idle as well as a walk around of vehicle This Chevelle was built to cruise on the street on pump gas and still make loads of horsepower reliably while maintaining power steering and power brakes. Currently it is making 819hp on 91 octane which was more than enough for me. However if you feel the need for more power you could run race gas and increase the boost for upwards of 900-1000 hp. Again this was built to cruise so I have never taken it down the 1/4 mile although 9 second et's should not be a problem on a slick. The entire drivetrain has maybe 1000-1200 miles on it. I drive it on the weekends. It is garage kept. It is currently registered and insured. Everything works as it should i.e. headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, pb (disc front), ps. I wanted interior to be close to factory so still has original door panels and bucket seats (in great condition). New carpet and headliner. Tilt steering column with billet levers. RJS black 3" lapbelts. Custom fabricated dash with a full set of Autometer gauges i.e. Speedometer, tachometer w/shift light, volt meter, water temp, oil pressure, boost pressure with warning lights installed as well. Custom dash was done so well it could pass for a factory job. B&M shifter is mounted in dash center console and sits flush. Grant steering wheel. The dash also has tweeters cleaverly placed off to the side with vents installed as well should the new owner decide to install air conditioning. The dash is trully stunning and must be scene in person to see just how well it was fabricated. The rear seat was removed and the entire rear area is carpeted and the 2x amplifiers are hidden inbetween the tubs. I do believe the rear seat could be installed meaning there is enough clearance however I have never tried nor do I have the rear bench. Car has a nice sound system with a Pioneer cd player, mids and highs, 2x amplifiers. Car always fires right up, idles great, NEVER gets hot even on the 100+ degree weather days we have had in southern California. Has great street manners so much so that if it wasnt for the sound of all that obvious power from the exhaust tone and the blower whine you may feel like your driving a daily driver. That is of course until you punch the gas and light the tires up from a roll at freeway speeds...yes it will do that. As much as I LOVE fast cars and muscle cars alike I can honestly count on one hand the number of times I have laid into it. This car gave me so much joy just cruising it around and taking it to local car shows such as Route 66. Now moving on to the exterior cosmetics the paint is a black with a hint of flake in it. The white stripes have pearl in them alot like the paint used on the newer Lexus IS's. The body panels all line up well. The passenger side upper hood does sit a bit higher than it should due to the hood hidge bieng too stiff I was told. They are the original hindges mounted on a much lighter fiberglass hood so plan on having that one modified or replacing the hindges if that bothers you. Its off ever so slightly it never bothered me. Now there is no visible rust that I can see anywhere on the car. Trunk looks perfect. The paint still has a very nice shine to it. There is one area of possible concern for the new owner. The area of concern is on the passenger top of roof there are a few crack lines in paint. Not ruff to were you can slide your fingernail in crack or to were you could flake of paint. It looks alot like dog hair. Imagine you had a white dog and removed about 6 of his medium sized hairs and laid them on the roof and you have an accurate idea of how it looks. Other than that the paint job is nice and the body is straight. It is not a $10,000 + show paint job with a laser straight body better than factory but its far from a cheap paint job as well. I realize everyone is different so I can just offer my own personal opinion since I am not a proffesional paint and body guy. In my opinion if you painted the small section of roof on passenger side it would be good to go although I found it looks great as is so I never spent the money to repaint the section. Some of that black car wax would provide a temporary fix inbetween details I was told. I made every effort possible to capture the beauty of the paint and body through the pictures I have attached, but I strongly suggest coming down and taking a look for yourself in person. Glass is all good. Chrome is all good. Rubber is good. So to sum it up all in all this is a turn key pro street monster that you can drive daily if you dont mind the gas mileage. It looks great inside and out. Sounds great, mechanically is fresh and very solid. Ready for cruise night or drag strip. Im sure I do not need to tell you this obvious fact but be prepared for alot of attention from everyone everywhere you go. I never minded much because im a car enthusiast through and though and love talking cars with anyone. Only reason im selling my Chevelle is to build something new. I will trully miss my Chevelle. I will replace spark plugs as well as do a fresh oil & filter change for the winning bidder. Although the car needs neither I just have the parts already. In addition if and only 'IF' buy it now is used I will have the roof professionally painted at a reputable hot rod and custom paint shop here in town thus covering that trouble area.
