Vehicle Detail
RARE 1949 BUICK SPECIAL – UN-RESTORED – ALL ORIGINAL Cover car of August 2010, Buick Bugle magazine, centerfold article brings it up close and personal. This car recently received an Archival Un-restored award at 2010 Buick National meet in Ames, Iowa. Body type 41 – Straight 8, 3 Speed Manual transmission, 46,000 miles. In the trunk you will find the original jack and tire tools. New spare tire, plugs, water pump and radiator hoses. This car runs excellently and is a joy to drive. A great un-restored driver or a gem if totally restored. Can you picture it? Sweet! This car comes with the original first sale documents. (Rare find)…To quote Pete Phillips from the Bugle article: “Although not in perfect condition the car is just stunningly original and unmolested. The doors open and close with a precise “ker-thunk”, reinforcing the feeling that it is built like a vault. The seats are high and comfortable. There are built in arm rests and footrests for the rear passengers. Not only do the rear windows open all the way down, there is a lever for the rear quarter windows to be opened for more ventilation. There is an old fashioned rope rail on the back of the front seat and an ashtray. The doors are so tall that you don’t even have to bend over very much to get in….” for the rest of this amazing story, and the feeling of being there with Pete as he drove it, you will have to read Pete’s article, August 2010. Pete concludes the article with… “If you have never seen a 1949 Buick model 41 (Special 4 door sedan) in person, the reason is that this is one of only 5,777 such cars made.” It can be yours if you win the bid.
