Vehicle Detail
1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 461 Stroker For sale is PHS documented 1971 Formula. The original 350 engine is gone and has been replaced with a 1970 400 engine that has been stroked to a 461. Body is solid; the Right front fender had some bad repair work done to it, therefore I purchased a used replacement fender that goes with the car(see picture). Car has one repaint that the previous owner did himself. The prep work was bad and there are dings and some waves in panels that will need to be taken care of before a re-paint. The inner fenders have been blasted and powder coated. Car has 2-1/4” fiberglass cowl hood. Included are powder coated GM hood hinges that have not been installed. The hood is 5/16" longer on passenger side than the driver’s side and will have to be trimmed were it meets the front bumper and the hood will need to be moved towards the bumper. I have scribed were it needs to be cut (see pic) after I installed new upper and lower door hinges and set body gaps. I decided that I would let the person that is going to do the body/paint cut the hood. New windshield installed. Door glass has some scratches and will need a good buff or possible replacement, car is missing outer window felts. Rear window is in good shape. New correct length door handles installed. Included with car and still new in package are door and trunk weather-stripping, and horns. The passenger, rear seats, dash pad, door panels and interior plastic are in great shape. The driver’s seat has a tear in it (see picture). I installed new sound deadener and Loop carpeting, floor boards were very clean, there was one rust spot about 3” in diameter from when the original heater core leaked. I took care of rust spot with POR 15 and replaced heater core. I installed a new fire wall pad. All of the Gauges function properly. I installed a new gauge cluster printed circuit board and replaced all the cluster light bulbs. I sent out the Tachometer to get a circuit board conversion to allow it to “read” the HEI. The Tachometer Clock has Quartz movement and is extremely accurate. I removed the windshield wiper motor/pump and transmission. These parts will also go with car. Wipers did work prior to removal. The original horns did not work, I did not have a chance to install the new horns but have installed a new horn relay and it does function.
