1987 BMW 535is Sedan Rare 5 speed Manual Sport No RESERVE! Thankyou for viewing our auction. You are looking at a hard to find 1987 BMW 535is sedan. The color is Gray with a tan leather interior. This 5 series is the second best model in line under the M5 super sedan. The engine is a big inline 6 cylinder mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The IS stands for sport model. This includes sport Recaro factory seats. 535is: Straight-6 with a sport suspension and interior and exterior modifications - 182 hp (135 kW). The 535is was available from 1987-1988. It incorporated M5 styling cues: front air-dam, rear spoiler, and sport seats. The 3.4 L was introduced to the US in 1985. 1988, was the last year this manifold casting was used in the E28 535i and 535is. A new style intake manifold was designed for the new 3.4 L. The casting read "3.5", but it was still 3.4 L (3430 cc). For the US, the 735i and the 635 csi were the first to receive the new M30 in 1988. There is only one other E28 535is on ebay right now and they want a fourtune for the car. Buy this BMW at NO RESERVE, highest bidder wins! The car runs and drives great. The airconditioning works well, and is cold. The engine runs quiet and smooth, and the idle is nice and consistant at 7 RPM. The mileage is only 173,150 nothing for a M30 BMW engine. The clutch is strong no slipping, the transmission is very smooth with no trouble getting into any gear. The suspension feels tight and the car handles great. The brakes feel solid, no warped rotors, vibrations, or noises of any kind. All around this is a very nice driving car, and I would take it anywhere with no worries at all. All electronics work except the electric height adjustment for the headrests on the seats. All power windows work, the power locks work every time, and the sunroof operates fine with no fuss. The power seat controls work great. The electric heated mirrors operate as well. The onboard computer display reads clear which is hard to find, most times the pixels go bad over the years. The condition of the car: The body is original from what I can tell. The paint seems original, in areas there is some clearcoat fade. No signs of rust present. The front seats are rough and need to either redone, or just buy a used set and replace them (shouldnt be more than 250 for a used set). There are currently is sheep skin seat slip covers over the front seats. They are very comfortable but have a few light staines.
