Vehicle Detail

This is a 1956 Chrysler Windsor Newport. It needs restoration, but isn't that bad. It is currently sitting outside a car museum in Columbus, GA attracting a lot of attention. It's about 98% complete in parts. ALL ORIGINAL. MATCHING NUMBER CAR. I have many extra items I'm including not pictured. I've been buying parts on eBay but I don't have the interest any more since I'm working on another 2 vehicles. This car has a solid body. Very little rust in the lower panels. New floor pans welded in place a year ago. Inside the trunk needs new steel. Minor damage on left rear fender. Other than that the body is solid. This car has never been in a major collision. What we have under the hood is the original 331 Spitfire V8 engine. This motor was used in drag racing in the 1950s and 60s. It is an overhead valve poly engine. These new engines used the existing Chrysler hemi blocks and crankshaft parts, but completely different heads, pushrods, intake and exhaust manifolds, pistons, etc. with only a single rocker shaft in each head. They were called polyspheric or “poly” motors (meaning “more than one sphere”), since the combustion chambers were now partially shaped like two separate shallow concave domes: the intake and exhaust valve seats and surrounding reliefs. In the Chrysler literature, the poly engines were also called single rocker shaft (“SRS”), while the hemi engines were called dual rocker shaft (“DRS”). You can put Hemi heads on this engine! This engine was running when I purchased it 3 years ago. The original Crab is on the engine. I have an original manual for the carburetor for rebuilding. The radiator is huge and looks to be in great shape. Transmission is ht e2 speed push button transmission. It was considered one of the best trannys ever manufactured in car history. No headliner. But I do have the headliner rods that go across to create it's shape! These are rare parts not usually found. I have replacement buttons for the push button transmission, that looks new! I have the aircleaner for the engine. Seats have been stored, and will need new reupholstery. I do have a new shop manual for this Chrysler. This Chrysler came with an option H-Way Record Player. I don't have that option but I do have the original Chrysler records in the record box. I also have the original Brochure for this car and original advertisement. Photos show door handles missing. I have original door handles ready to install. I have all 4 chrome wheel covers (unless recently stolen while at the car museum). Dash is soft, no cracks, and beautiful. This car will need new rewiring. And happily I am supplying the winner of this auction, the original wiring diagram. I've purchased a lot over the years for this vehicle. I hope it goes to a good home. Also, if you need anything, everyday there are many pages of parts available on eBay! When I purchased it, I had a friend do the floorpans, and once he finished he close shop and moved away leaving some wiring missing. Will need a new gas tank, steering wheel horn ring, steel in trunk, carpet, headliner, some wiring, paint, and engine tuning. It is not running right now but will once you get it restored. Extras coming with this auction: 1. Original reproduction shop manual 2. Original carburetor rebuild manual 3. Original Records in original Chrysler box 4. Orignial advertisement 5. Replacement Push buttons for the push buton transmisison. These are Original parts 6. Original Brochure for this vehicle 7. Original headliner rods 8. All rims 9. All door handles, replacement original parts 10. Wiring diagram 11. Air Cleaner carburetor cover 12. Both sets of seats (needing reuphostery) 13. Replacemnt Glass for passenger side door 14. New weatherstripping rubber for trunk 15. Extra tail light pieces and lenses Gorgeous fins and tailights! Chrome front end is amazing! Looks mean. Nice chrome visor! Great looking vehicle. Needs TLC.
