Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 I have enjoyed this Colorado car for 26 years. It is fun to drive, in great shape, and has a high degree of originality. The car has 105k miles and has been very well cared for. Porsche Certificate of Authenticity verifies engine serial number is correct for chassis serial number. Engine Stock other than the following upgrades: Early 911s distributor with optical points for reliability. Restoration note: original Marelli distributor included with sale. Upsized venturis. The US version of the car originally came with reduced size venturis, the upsized venturis bring the car up to European spec horsepower. Transmission stock Suspension Upgrades adjustable Weltmeister sway bars front / rear180 lb springs rear, 21mm torsion bars front, Bilstein Sport shocks6x15 Fuchs wheels Interior The driver seat was replaced with a correct seat in better condition. The original fixed-position passenger seat has been replaced with a later-model 914 seat to allow adjustments (front/back, tilt). Restoration note: Included with sale is the original driver seat and passenger seat; note that the vinyl on both is in rough shape. Also included are the original mounts needed to mount the original passenger seat.Mats are original and in good condition. Dashboard looks good though does have a couple cracks. No radio installed. When new the 914-6 was available with or without radio. The radios on these cars were dealer-installed, and more than one type of radio would qualify as correct for this car. The car does have the speakers, speaker grills, and antenna. The inside mirror is an aftermarket part. Notes There are several rock chips that have been touched up. It’s hard to see them in the photos and they are not conspicuous from 10 feet away, but up close they are evident. Under the passenger side jack point there is a small rust hole in the rocker panel (see photo). The rear valance is a correct steel valance, slotted version, in good condition. The front spoiler is a fiberglass aftermarket part and has scrapes and cracks. There is a small dent on the right side of the front bumper (see photo). It leaks some oil on the garage floor (as will any 914-6, unless it has a very recently rebuilt engine)There are surface scratches in the passenger side window. From the photo you can see these are not very significant, possibly could be polished out. Documentation Original owners manualRepair records for the majority of repair work during my ownership as well as for prior owner. Engine top end overhauled during prior owner’s ownership. Transmission overhauled during my ownership. Tool kit The factory-provided tool kit for the 914-6 was the same as the 1969-1973 911 tool kit, with the addition of a towing eye. A complete tool kit is a rare find and can sell for $1000 or more. Black basket-weave vinyl bag with light tan interior P208 generator pulley holder wrench Klein 19 mm lug wrench with tapered end "Chrom Vanadium" 19x22 mm box wrench Five "Drop-Forged-Steel Germany" open-end wrenches: * 8 x 9 mm * 10 x 11 mm * 12 x 13 mm * 14 x 15 mm * 17 x 19 mm Klein 21mm solid spark plug socket Klein 10 mm Allen wrench 160 mm combination pliers with cross-hatched handles Klein Phillips screwdriver with red plastic handle embossed "10000 VOLT W-GERMANY" Klein elongated-blade screwdriver with red plastic handle embossed "10000 VOLT W-GERMANY" Towing eye No jack included. I believe the correct jack was the same as used on some Volkswagons of the era (and therefore not rare or expensive), but I have been unable to definitively verify this. Please ask any questions before bidding. Car is available for inspection (Lakewood, CO). On Sep-01-10 at 15:34:47 PDT, seller added the following information:Footnote: In my description I mention that I have receipts for the majority of the work done during my ownership as well as during the prior ownership. When a prospective bidder asked a question about specifics of the top end engine overhaul (work done in the early 1980's) I discovered that I do not have the receipt for this work. I know for a fact the work was done; when I was evaluating the car in 1984 I talked with the mechanic who did the engine work. I just don't have paperwork to document specifically what parts and labor were provided. As for the transmission rebuild, this was done during my ownership and I do have the receipt for that work. The rebuild included replacing the 5 syncros and the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd dog rings, plus usual minor parts such as bearing and gaskets. On Sep-02-10 at 11:54:34 PDT, seller added the following information: More than one potential bidder has asked if the car has been repainted, and the answer is yes. The exterior was repainted the correct color ("signal orange") during the prior ownership (1980-1984).
