Vehicle Detail
This is a VERY RARE -California built- 1970 Monte Carlo with the 330 hp (10.25:1 compression) 402 BIG BLOCK (aka. 400 CID Turbo-Jet) option. It is a matching numbers engine which was rebuilt to factory specifications roughly 30,000 miles ago. Of the 145,975 Monte Carlos made in 1970, only 7,465 had this engine (only 5.1%). It is also ONE OF THE EARLIEST Monte Carlos ever built! The 9B on the body tag indicates that it was built the 2nd week of September 1969. Production only started the first week of September. The engine block code is T0801CKN - which translates to a 1970 402 V8 built on August 1st 1969, and was only for a Chevelle or Monte Carlo. Yes, this is right, the engines were built in Tonowanda, NY and then shipped to Van Nuys, CA to be put into the car. For people who don't know Monte Carlos, this car's interior, engine, frame, suspension, transmission and rear-end are virtually identical to a 1970 SS 396 Chevelle. Car runs and drives excellent and has almost new tires and a new flowmaster exhaust system. I am only the 3rd owner of this car and it has spent half its life in California and the other half in Georgia. This car is a great daily driver with virtually no rust! Floors, frame, deck lid, quarter panels are all perfect. From 20 feet away this car looks PERFECT! I have piles of receipts for all of the work ever done to this car. Factory Options include: Power Windows (they all work fine) Tilt Steering Column Map Light Rear View Mirror AM/FM Stereo (that still works!) Windshield Washer Level indicator light (under the dash on driver side, SO RARE I can't find production info on it!) Trunk light (works) Air Conditioning (still has some charge, compressor and other components replaced, probably just needs a charge to work) LS3 402 Big Block - 330 hp (only 30 less hp than SS) Dual Exhaust (Brand NEW complete Flowmaster system) 15 inch Ralley Wheels TH400 transmission 12 Bolt rear end with 2.73 gears Heavy Duty Suspension - HUGE rear sway bar with BOXED lower control arms (not found on small block cars) The important info on the body tag is: 9B - 2nd week of September 1969 production date 10 - Classic White (exterior) B - Black Interior 749 - Black Prima Cloth Bucket Seats (only 16.9% had buckets) (Very Rare Factory Cloth) 03159 - Means this was only the 3,159th Monte Carlo EVER made! BL - Van Nuys, CA production plant Items that could use some attention: Dash pad is cracked, minor bubbles under the vinyl top, interior could use a dye job (no rips anywhere), dented gas tank, a/c recharge, minor amount of rust at bottom of driver side fender (covered by trim), and some very minor pinholes in trunk, starter system on rare occasions won't work when hot e-mail me through ebay if you have any questions VERY LOW RESERVE - CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY, SO I MAY END AUCTION AT ANYTIME. NOT INTERESTED IN ANY TRADES. $500 deposit required 48 hours from end of auction. If you have "0" feedback, you must contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid.
