Vehicle Detail

We WILL NOT accept any bids from outside of the United States. Also, we WILL NOT accept any offers outside of ebay. If you are interested in this vehicle.... please read ALL of the following details BEFORE placing your bid. Hello bidders! Up for sale is a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T. My husband has owned this car for about 18 years. He had hopes of restoring it, but has never gotten to the place to do so. It has changed very little over the years, because he has kept the car garaged or covered in some manner as good as he could since he has had the car. The condition of the car as you see it, is how it was when he got it. A little history.... It is a true Charger R/T XS29 code, and it came from the factory with power windows and brakes, air conditioner, a 440 engine with a 727 transmission automatic in the floor and as far as my husband knows it had a Dana 60. The previous owner removed the Dana 60, the Data tag and the 440 engine (probably for his own 68 R/T project). Of course, without the data tag he can't prove that it actually had a Dana 60. The transmission has also been removed. (The rear axle has been replaced with an 8 3/4 rear axle with a 323 open gear.) The white exterior with a green vinyl top and the white interior with green accents came as a standard factory package, but the green stripe around the tail of the car was specially ordered. Also, a little extra info.... 68 was the first year the green vinyl top was offered. The car has been repainted only once and was kept the original colors. The exterior of the car is in fairly good shape. It has some rust in the usual places found on this style of Charger. See pictures. The back window has some rust issues, and to play it safe, my husband took the window out and stored it. The windshield has a crack and will need to be replaced. The side glasses seem to be in good condition. The trunk lid is not usable, but my husband has a solid one that he will give with the car. The doors, fenders, and hood are fairly solid except there is one place on the driver's side fender at the bottom that has a rust spot about the size of a half dollar and does not seem to need a whole patch panel, but does need to be addressed. The frame is very solid. The grills, taillight assembly and dash are still intact from the factory. For the interior... We do have the original seats and arm rests, and the upper door panels that have the charger logo; all still in fair shape. My husband purchased for the car a period correct and color correct console and a "slide down" ashtray that was missing from the car. He also purchased a set of head rest, complete with hardware, that did not originally come with this car and he will let them go too if you want them. To keep the car period correct, my husband purchased a 68 440 short block and had it worked on. Unfortunately, the machine shop did not bother to tell him that the block had a crack in it until AFTER the work was done. IF he could restore the car, he was going to see about getting the crack welded. He knows of some people that race on a local drag strip and knows that they have had a cracked block welded before. So, if you would like to have the block, my husband will let it go also. The block would come with a crank, rods with pistons, balancer, oil pan, and intake. My husband is trying to sell a car that is as complete as possible so you don't have to chase down a lot of hard to find parts, but we can't insure that every little screw is there. We have taken care of this car as well as we could and believe it is worth rebuilding. We will be glad to answer any questions VIA EMAIL ONLY.... unless you are a frequent bidder. Our number is unlisted and will only be available to the frequent bidders. Any questions asked by email may be posted to the public, unless it contains personal information (If your first name is the only personal information in your email, we may still post the question). We hope this car is the "restoration project" that you've been looking for. Happy bidding and have a blessed day!
