The 2001 BMW M Roadster is destined to be one of those cars that 5 years from now, you scratch your head and wonder why you didn't seek out a prime example when they were available for less than $40k. I am the second owner of this car which has only 69,000 miles and is in beautiful condition. The exterior color is Titanium Silver Metallic. The two-tone (black & gray) Nappa leather sport seats are electrically adjustable and are heated. The radio is a factory Harman-Kardon premium high-performance sound system with AM/FM, CD and has 10 speakers. It was ordered with a very rare factory hardtop, only available as a dealer installed option. The hardtop can be quickly and easily removed which will then expose a black colored cloth soft top. The soft top powers open by a push of a button and instantly the car becomes a convertible. The 2001 and 2002 Z3 M Roadsters and Coupes were the only BMW series cars to be equipped with the legendary S54 engine. It is a M-developed 3.2 liter, DOHC 24-valve inline six-cylinder engine with Double-VAONS variable valve timing, direct ignition, 6 individual butterfly throttles and knock control. Many motoring publications have voted this engine as the best motor ever built by BMW due to its ability to make power and its durability. There was only 1,000 Z3 Roadsters produced in 2001 and 2002 that had this motor. The engine is hooked up to a five-speed manual transmission. Some other features include 225/45 ZR17 high performance radial tires on front and 245/40 ZR17 tires on the rear, M RoadStar cast alloy wheels with satin chrome finish, tire pressure monitoring system, rollover protection bars, M-style power aerodynamic side mirrors, heated door locks and windshield washer jets, exterior temperature gauge, auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror, and 3-spoke M sport leather steering wheel. The car has been serviced on a regular basis and has a complete maintenance history. At 68,000 miles the car was inspected by Hendrick Motors in North Carolina.
