Vehicle Detail

You are viewing what we believe overall is a truly exceptional 1990 Volkswagen Vanagon GL Westfalia with very low mileage. Many VW enthusiasts consider the 90-91 the most desirable years and ironically due to the small production numbers in the last two years of the series also the hardest to find. These late model Westfalia Campers simply don’t change hands that often. Our Westy has less than 60,000 miles on her which makes her even rarer considering that most Westfalia’s have spent their lives for weekend getaways but most often as daily commuters too. Considering that she is now twenty years old, she has averaged only 3,000 miles per year! Our wonderful rust free Volkswagen GL Westy has spent her entire life in sunny southern California. We have used our 1990 VW Westfalia camper as an extra vehicle mostly for weekend outings and surf trips throughout the California coast. Our 1990 Volkswagen GL Camper drives like any low mileage vehicle should. She drives straight and she does not wonder to any side. The steering is tight and precise. The springs and shocks perform perfectly and she handles like a low mileage Vanagon should. In the past year we did the brakes so she stops on a dime. In addition we added new tires all the way around mounted on the optional factory alloy wheels that are in stunning condition. The finish on the alloys is simply superb with only very minor blemishes. We haven’t missed a beat maintaining our wonderful 1990 Volkswagen GL Westfalia Camper. We have taken pride in her while on our watch with lots of mechanical upgrades. She was recently serviced and every oil change she receives Synthetic oil only for longevity! Within the last two thousand miles we upgraded to bigger heads from AMC which are the best in the business along with a K & N Air filter for much improved performance with the addition of an upgraded cooling fan system. With 60,000 miles around the corner we recently did a major service which included all new belts and hoses, plugs and wires, new wiper blades, tail gate struts, serviced the transmission, new water pump and thermostat. Everything works on her as it should including the horn, all lights, interior lights, instrument cluster, turn signals, low and high beams, front and rear wipers, wiper speeds, climate control, power mirrors, power steering and all seat belts. She is ready for her next adventure. The color of our 1990 Volkswagen Westfalia is a Pewter color. When we drive her down the road she turns lots of heads. She looks very good. She isn’t perfect but she shows very well. I think the bumpers on the late model Westy’s tend to improve the looks and I am betting this is one of the reasons why. She does have a few blemishes including some minor dings and scratches but overall she shows very well indeed! The weather stripping and all rubber around the glass and doors are in excellent supple condition. She is also free of any rust which seems to be a problem with many we see from time to time. The interior of our Volkswagen Westfalia GL is truly terrific and does not show nearly any wear! The front and rear seat material is in excellent condition. Swivel seats work as they should. The interior door panels are super. The dash has no cracks and has been covered with a dash mat her entire life. The headliner is superb. The carpets simply look great. She is equipped with front and rear tables. The Camper cabinets are stunning. The two burner stove and refrigerator perform as they did when new. The running water and sink works perfectly. While all these items work as they should we have never and the prior owner never used the stove and the original plastic lining is still on the heat shield! In addition when we purchased our 1990 Westfalia the original plastic covering the upper bunk was still in place up until just under two years ago. Needless to say the upstairs bunk is simply excellent and we have used it less than five times. The canvas and seals are like brand new. We were the first owners to actually use the pop top and open it up. The canvas is original and simply stunning. The pop top seals are original supple and excellent. We upgraded the stereo replacing the main unit with a Panasonic and upgraded the speakers with top of the line Orion units. We also tinted the windows all the way around which is a very big job because it requires the removal of the rear closet etc for the driver’s side rear window. The new owner will again get a truly exceptional drivers quality 1990 Volkwagen Vanagon GL Westfalia Camper that screams pride of ownership. She comes with a fully functional spare tire and wheel, factory jack and lug wrench fitted in the proper place along with complete owner’s books and complete set of keys from the factory and of course all the recent service records. We sincerely hope the Winning-Bidder will take the same pride in ownership we and the past owners have taken in her. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions just allow us up to twenty four hours to respond. Additional pictures available upon request. The “Winning-Bidder” will give us $500.00 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction close via Bank wire or Pay Pal! Our wonderful Westy is sold as-is and no warranty is implied. The balance is due within seven days of auction close via Cash in person, Local cashier’s check or bank wire. Upon clearance of funds seller will overnight Clean California Title, Current California Registration, Owners Book and radio face. Shipping cost is the responsibility of the buyer and the 1990 GL Westfalia should be picked up within fourteen days of close of auction. Seller will assist buyer in getting to local port or trucking depot. We sincerely appreciate your interest and best of luck to you bidding!
