Vehicle Detail
This 1978 metallic blue Beetle with white convertible top has not been running for 10 years. It has been in storage during this time and is in good condition for a project car. Motor was running when it was put in storage. I have not attempted to get it started. It may be possible to start the engine without too much trouble; it is hard to say at this point. Tires are completely shot and will not hold air. I state this because this will need to be taken into consideration for transport. I am willing to discuss this with potential buyers or the winning buyer who will be responsible for transportation plans and costs. The convertible top was replaced in the mid-1990s and is in good condition. A tree branch fell on top of it, however, and is cut in three places (now covered with duct tape) on the front center. There is surface rust throughout the car (see photos). There are rust spots where the bottom of the windshield meets the body. The extent of the damage is not readily apparent because of the weather stripping. There is rust-through on the passenger’s side heat exchange box (see photos). The floor board in front of the rear seat has some rust through at the edges of the OEM sound proof padding. Bondo on the driver’s side fender (near the headlight) suggests that early body work was done in this area. The interior is white vinyl. Front and back seats need complete restoration. There are cracks on the dashboard near the windshield. I am providing several photos to give an accurate depiction of the car’s condition. This car has great potential, but needs restoration. If car is made to run, it can conceivably be used “as is” until restoration is undertaken. One final note: although my ebay profile shows my home city as Austin, Texas, the vehicle itself is located at my mother's property in Buchanan Dam, Texas, which is about 60-70 miles from Austin. The winning buyer would have to make arrangements to pick up the car in Buchanan Dam. Please contact me with any questions.
