Vehicle Detail

2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon I have to let go of my Rubicon. I have listed this Jeep before back in May or so I think, so you may have seen it. In short, the deal fell through and it never sold so I am trying again. It is in very good shape for a 2005 with fairly low miles. There is nothing wrong with it I am aware of it just needs a new home. I need a small truck for gas mileage and to relieve some debt. It was currently my daily driver and just not working for what I need. If you’re looking at this you know what the Rubicon is about; but, incase you don’t… Generally Speaking - The Wrangler Rubicon (compared to a typical Wrangler) consists of: Dana 44 axles front and rear Locking differentials 4:1 ratio and more heavy duty transfer case Lower final drive gear ratio (am pretty sure this one is 4:11) 4 wheel disk brakes Heavy duty suspension Body protection along the rocker panels 245/75/16 Goodyear MTR tires with 16” wheels (probably the best looking wheel ever put on a Jeep in my opinion) Wider fender flares Tow hooks I’m probably missing some other things but overall it is just an awesome vehicle. Arguably one of the most capable Jeeps ever built. About this Jeep - When this color came out I just fell in love with it. You don’t see many of them especially with a manual transmission. It is a pretty rare Jeep and tough to find in this condition. I found it in Ashville NC. July 3 2009. It had 42,700 miles on it when I bought it. It had just had brand new tires at the time. I looked it over, top-to-bottom. It does not look like it has ever been abused or off roaded. It may have seen an occasional trail but no extreme rock crawling. All the body panels and serial numbers match the VIN. I see no evidence of paint work other than the typical rock chips here and there or touch ups. Nothing major at all. It had a grey top on it originally. Early build 05’s had grey top and fender flares. The top was in questionable shape. The windows were hazy looking so I replaced it with a brand new Best Top Sailcloth in early spring 2010. ($500+) Original framework, just the top and windows were replaced. I thought it looked a little odd with a black top and grey flares .. so those were replaced too with brand new genuine Mopar Rubicon flares. ($300) It looks a lot better in my opinion. Maintenance – I put a new battery in it back in the fall. All the maintenance has been kept current with either synthetic or blended fluids. (syn in the winter) I don’t know about the first few years of it’s life but I can tell you I have never neglected it. The only thing I can really think of is in the extreme cold weather (8-10deg or so) it’s a little sensitive going into reverse but I don’t think it’s a problem. Again, just something worth mentioning. Interior – The interior is clean. I have had neoprene seat covers on it for the majority of the time I have owned it. Mastercraft handles on the roll bars and aluminum locks with a special key for the hard doors also stay with the Jeep. The seat covers have been spoken for and to not come with the Jeep. The carpet is clean with no signs of water or mud ever that I can see. I looked under the seats, all the seat tracks etc. Looks clean. The Negative – The day I bought it the Check Engine light came on. (..sigh) I took it to my local Jeep dealer and had it checked out. It was showing a code for a bad catalytic converter or 02 sensor. 0491 iI believe it was. (?) The Jeep dealer replaced all of it. Both cats, and the downstream 02 sensor. I have not had any problems with it since. I just thought I’d mention it. It was covered under the federal emissions warranty. On the rear door where it swings out, the plastic around the hinges is cracked. I guess the tire swings out past where it should and it cracked these plastic covers. The passenger tail light housing is cracked a little on the top too for the same reason. It is very important with Goodyear MTR tires to keep them rotated and balanced. If you’re considering a Rubicon even if you don’t buy this one please keep this in mind. I rotate them around every 2000-2500 miles. The tires are 10 ply and are tough to keep balanced. You should be prepared to accept this or change tires. Again, just common with MTRs and being honest. The tires are not my favorite part of the Jeep. They are not in bad shape really – maybe 60% tread remaining - but if I kept the Jeep I would not go back with them. They’re a bit noisy and aggressive, but this may be a plus for some people. I’m just getting old ! Asthetically – I have added the black grille inserts just to give it a more defined look in the front. If you don’t like them they can be removed. Also I had a JKS 1” body lift with 1” motor mount lift professionally installed. This gives it just enough of a lift without looking silly or sacrificing irreversible modifications, the ride or suspension geometry. It was installed correctly and I have not had a problem with it. If someone wanted to lift this Jeep a 2” suspension could handle 33’s no problem. With the body lift you’re ready to go. I had planned on it but I’ll never get to it. If you want the Jeep but don’t like the BL (?) we can get that removed too. Not a problem. It has a Class 3 hitch (2” receiver) with wiring for trailer lights. I have only used it to haul a small lawnmower trailer one time. Any other time it was used for a bicycle rack. I added an Old Man Emu steering stabilizer just to smooth out the steering wheel and help with the tires. It definitely helped. Important Details – I am not driving the Jeep daily anymore. I have purchased another vehicle. The Jeep has 65,459 miles on it as of today but people may want to test drive it between now and the time the winner picks it up. I have listed it as 66,000 miles to be fair. There is currently a lien on the Jeep with State Farm. They have the title and are aware it is being sold. We can work out the details with them. I will be happy to work with you or your bank to get things in line, all it will take is a phone call and we can coordinate the payoff. I cannot release the Jeep until all the funds have cleared and I receive notification from the bank. I have access to a car hauler in needed. I can help you with shipping coordination. My uncle owns a roll back and I can put you in touch with him for pricing. The cost is your responsibility. I will also meet you within a 100 mile radius of Chattanooga and show it or personally deliver it. I’m sorry for the small novel. I respect the fact you are buying a big ticket item sight unseen. If you have questions need a specific picture or want to talk about it give me a call. My name is Chad. 423-650-6294 Leagally - Only to cover my eBay fees there is a $250 Deposit required via Paypal within 48 hrs, and payment in full expected within 15 days of the end of the auction. I understand it will take several days for coordination with the bank. I will not release the Jeep until all funds are clear. US Bidders only please. I will not ship this Jeep outside of the US. If you do not live in the US please do not bid. I would strongly prefer a local sale so you could drive it and inspect for yourself. I recommend if you can come and see it and drive it do so before you bid. Once you bid and win, you own it. Please ask any and all questions before you bid. Not interested in trades, i just need to sell it. I will not reveal the reserve price. Sorry. I reserve the right to stop the auction at any time without notice, as the Jeep could sell anytime. I need to sell it, so don't wait or it might be sitting in someone else's garage. Thank You for your interest in my Jeep.
