Vehicle Detail

I really don’t want to sell this truck, so please don’t bid. But I did promise the wife I would put in on ebay, afterall, she is the boss. So, this noisy, stinky, white elephant needs to live in someone else’s garage according to her. She is letting me keep my high mileage 99 24 valve, noisy, stinky, white elephant though, go figure…… Here it is, it just rolled over 62,000 miles this morning on the way to work. I pulled over and did a little dance. Some hot chick in a new challenger winked at me, as though she understood. A/C and heat work great. In fact too damn cold on recirculate. All the little doors inside the dash do exactly as they are supposed to. No issues at all. The radio isn't the premium system and on one occasion it turned itself off. Came right back on and never did it again. So who know. All gauges work as they should and oil pressure is excellent. I bought this truck several months ago, thinking it would be a great back-up if my 99 ever crapped out. When I got it home, I just stared at it for an hour or so, then stayed up all night cleaning up my garage to make room for it. I found it in a garage and figured it should always sleep in a garage. My 99 has been a real trooper and has been through some hell, so I figured I’d give it a break and tend to some much needed loving, and drive this in the meantime. So on day one of driving it, it rained. When I got home that night, I washed it, waxed it and put it back in the garage. Swapped tags over to my 73 Dart and drove it until I finished the 99. Aside from some Sunday cruises, she’s just been in the garage, making me very unpopular with the ole lady. So here it is, for sale to a good home. 1997 Dodge Ram 3500 5.9l Cummins Diesel with automatic trans. 62,000 original miles. Extended cab, power windows, locks, mirrors and manual seats. This truck is probably the nicest example you will ever see from that period. Unrestored original survivor truck. Never been molested under the hood or anywhere else for that matter. Some finer details are listed below: Paint: 7.5 out of 10. Minor bumps/scrapes and yellow staining around gas filler (I’ve not tried too hard to do anything about that, as I don’t want to booger it up. Interior: 10 out of 10, nuff said. No the dash is NOT cracked or even faded, none of the interior has any fade to it what so ever. The seats are pristine, not nice, but PRISTINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Engine: Well, I changed the oil, even though it was clean. She is as dry as a popcorn fart underneath and runs like a noisy 12v Cummins runs. Idle is a tad low with a/c on, but I’m told that’s normal. This thing is all mechanically controlled/tuned, where as my 99 has that expensive computerized crap that does crazy stuff once in a while. Transmission: I pulled the pan when I got it, wiped the pan out and was surprised not to find any particulate in it at all, so I’m thinking the dealer had recently serviced it. Replace the gasket with the new re-usable one, and threw away the old reusable one (don’t ask) Popped on a new filter, topped off with the Mopar trans fluid and that’s about it. It shifts great and pulls just fine. I towed my hmmwv on an a steel deck trailer about 70 miles and you can’t even tell it’s back there. Oh yeah, it’s 2wd. Don’t need 4wd around here. Rear end: The holy grail of gear ratios,,3:54 Dana. Not that retard 4:10 junk that kills mileage. This girl gets 21-23 running 70 empty and she got 18.5 pulling my hmmwv at 65. That’s not really much of a load, about 7,800 pds. That’s all on the flatlands of SC, no Idea what these trucks do in the hills. The body: There is a dent on top of the bad rail on the drivers side, which I think a bed rail cap might cover most of it. Looks like something fell on it. There is no rust anywhere on this truck, ever. It has never seen the rust mites of yankee land and he actually had it rustproofed when he bought it. He moved to SC 20+ years ago and I guess up north people do that rust proofing stuff. The old man (75 or so) that I got it from used it to pull the shortest gooseneck camper I have ever seen. It was almost comical, the camper wasn’t 2 feet longer than the truck. I didn’t know they made them that short. I asked him why it was for sale and his response was the funniest thing I ever heard. And I quote: “ Well, I really screwed up back in November, I took the old lady on a cruise. That ended her camping days” “So I’m making room in the garage for Sunday night card parties” I never even test drove the truck. I just paid him his asking price. We then had to access the attic and dig out the tailgate (he had one of those weird air gate thingy’s on there). The tailgate was remove from the truck 3 days after he bought it new, wrapped in a blanket and tucked away in the attic. Installing it was like a privelage. He needed to keep the goose neck stuff that attached to the bars, so we pulled that out and now I have these big metal bars in the way, I never got around to taking them off, as I’ve been too lazy and it’s been too damn hot out to worry about it. This truck has never been beat on, pounded hard or exposed to an abusive driver. It runs and drives like a new truck (made me realize the tlc I needed to put in my 99) Never smoked in and the lighter has never been used. No funk or nasty stuff in the nooks and crannies, it’s just never been dirty or neglected. I reserve the right to end this auction early, as I t is for sale locally. No tire kickers please. This is for the guy that use to have one and kicks himself in the tail every time he thinks about selling it. For someone who appreciates a truck that has been taken care of. The pictures speak for themselves. I will not ship this truck. You can fly/drive in and drive it home. If you arrange for a transporter, I will help out as much as I can. Truck don’t leave until all funds have been paid. Thanks for understanding. I encourage you to come take a look, cause I know you will buy it. I’m not taking trades and I’m not dealing with anyone outside the lower 48. If you can’t speak English don’t call me. Cash is king, not taking bank checks from Africa or Russia. In fact, I just want cash. Call me anytime, from a number that doesn’t show up as blocked and I will answer. 843 224 9194 and ask for Todd. Thanks
