Up for sale is my 1980 VW Rabbit convertible (Cabriolet later), which has incredibly low mileage for a 30 year-old vehicle. This was the first year of the convertible Rabbit, and the only year with the bifocal gauges. As the title states, only a bit under 76,000 original miles on this soon to be classic. All original, even down to the windscreen! Timing belt replaced already, full tuneup performed a week ago, new alternator belt, new shocks, brakes at about 90%, new tires, new fuel pump from previous owner, top in perfect shape (no rips, tears, or leaks) and comes with the top cover. The Rabbit was repainted the factory forest green at some point a few years ago by the previous owner. Still looks fresh and shines nicely, although if you look closely (as seen in photo) you can see a couple spots of rust under the paint that were painted over below the trim in a couple spots. It's minor, but I'm not sure why these little spots weren't corrected before the repaint as it would have been quite easy to do. Other than that, I haven't found any rust on the car. Pretty surprising to me since I purchased this Rabbit from a gentleman in CO. I'm assuming the Rabbit must have belonged to someone that rarely drove it and kept it garaged because it's a true time capsule car. Chrome bumpers in excellent shape. Interior is 9/10. Immaculate! Everything in the car works. All gauges, lights, etc. 8v motor runs strong and the 5spd tranny shifts smoothly. It's getting very hard to find early Rabbit convertibles in this sort of condition, and even harder to find one with such low mileage. This is a rare bird. Excellent daily driver! 25 mpg city/ 30 highway. Very reliable, and cheap to fix should anything go wrong. I've put a little over 3000 miles on the Rabbit since I bought it, and it's never let me down. I've driven it from San Diego to Los Angeles and Orange County 5 times a week for work without any issues. Great car for summer. :)The only reason I'm posting the Rabbit for sale is that I'll be moving this month and wouldn't mind selling one of my cars to free up some cash. I'd also prefer to sell the Rabbit to an enthusiast such as myself who will care for the car and not ruin it. **The pictures shown were taken with my iPhone camera, so I apologize for the less than perfect quality.
