MERCEDES 230sl 250sl 280sl 113 PAGODA 1963 - 1971 RARE -One of the last 250SL's built # 005180 of 5196 built !! Built December 1967 Comes with both tops ! Hardtop in very nice condition as well Not shown in pictures - it is in storage I have been commissioned to help sell this car for a customer here in Madison Wisconsin This is a 1968 250sl roadster -- It has been in the same family since 1985 and was only driven on nice days for leisure . It was purchased in 1985 in Phoenix Arizona and was not moved up to Wisconsin until 2002 or so upon which it was only driven in good weather and stored in the winter . It has been garage kept since 1985 ! It is in very good mechanical condition and I have inspected the car and driven the car as well . It rides very well , it stops as it should and is a very fine example of a driver 250SL . It has a very clean body with very few minor paint flaws that are hard to see . I have supplied large pictures so you can see the car . It is a real stand out and looks great from a few feet away and almost like new from about 15 feet away ! It could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle. Completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. A "20-footer". I think this car fits this description . There are no dings or dents on the car at all . The chrome is straight and very presentable . The engine is clean and runs very well with no signs of smole at all . The transmission shifts well . All in all this car is ready to go for a weekend drive right now . AS with any car that is 42 years old there are some issues . Others selling these cars will not mention them but we will tell you the flaws up front so you know what you are getting . 1. There is some rust in the typical areas in the front floors -- It is not much and can be addressed with not a lot of cost 2. There is some typical rust in the rear doglegs up and over the rear suspension -- These areas can be cleaned up and repair panels welded in to fix them at not a great cost --estimate this can be done for less than $1000 by a competent shop The car is fine to drive as is but it is a good idea to fix these areas . 3. When starting the car it sometimes take 3 or 4 tries as there is a solenoid electrical problem - should be an easy fix and the car never fails to start 4. The heater levers on the dash are all broken - a common problem with the 250sl and 280sl - they can be purchased and replaced Other than than those issues this is a very nice car as you can see - The owner and his wife are getting up in years and do not need this car that they inherited anymore so out it goes .
