THIS IS A GREAT DEPENDABLE TRUCK FOR AUCTION!!! GREAT RUNNING TRUCK FOR YOUR TEENAGE SON, BUSINESS, HUNTING/FISHING, ETC. DON'T MISS OUT. WOULD BE GREAT TO RESTORE, LOW MILEAGE!!!!!! GOOD LUCK, MAY IT GO TO A GOOD HOME!!! No need to worry about it braking down. Its a simple V6 with nothing to worry about. A/C not installed (can't break) Manual steering (no power steering pump to brake) Manual brakes (no brake booster to brake) 4 speed automatic (dependable, LOW MILEAGE) Heater core by-passed (no need to worry about a leak)!!! Seriously, this is a great Truck!, If you are looking for a truck that will do what trucks were made for (haul stuff and get the job done) then this is what you want! It is an unbelievable great deal! I bought this truck from the city of Springfield, Florida at auction. I took a chance because it was sold as-is doesn't run. All it needed was a new ignition coil. It was a city vehicle that the city had bought from the public school system. The School used it as a maintenance vehicle and then it transfered to the public works dept of the city. The city workers would never drive the vehicle because the other trucks were newer and all had A/C, this one does not. The result: A 1986 Chevy C-10 with about 28k original miles on it. Unbelievable right? Well, unfortunately there is no real way to prove it since the odometer only goes up to 99k then rolls over. BUT, if you drive it, you'll know. Facts: Brakes: Good (Do not need work) Tires: Great and kinda Good (two tires are about a year old with maybe 1k miles on them, the other two have good tread but are weathered and have visible dry rot) Interior: Fair (The dashboard had cracks all over it so I covered it with some cool shaggy cloth.) Stereo: Good (two new speaker, used cassette deck) Original radio remains in place but not hooked up condition unknown Engine: Excellent Transmission: Excellent Body:- Truck bed is very good with little rust. It was at one time undercoated- Cab is pretty good with some surface rust on the roof and at the bottom of the door jam.- Doors they work, but if you are restoring this truck they would need replaced- 1/4 panels are in good condition, just a little work needed but definitely repairable - Grill: see picture- Hood, it is open in the pictures but it does latch tightly and securely. It would need to be replaced if you are trying to restore the truck. Frame: The truck hasn't been wrecked, It has a custom made heavy duty bumper on the back. Where the bumper attaches to the Right side frame rail, there is a lot of rust. This is a great truck, I hate to sell it, I wish I had the time to fix it up myself and give it to my son on his 16th birthday, but he is only 7 right now, and we could use the cash for his school. Good luck and God Bless!!! Please ask as many questions as you would like, I will take additional photos of the truck per request, just tell me what you want to see. If you want to pick this truck up and drive it, I recommend replacing the two rear tires (tread is fine, but the tire is beyond its usable life) Fly into either Orlando or Tampa, Truck is in Mulberry, Florida On Aug-05-10 at 19:03:54 PDT, seller added the following information: Hi! I just wanted to add some pictures and correct the mileage. I am stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama. The truck is parked at my sister's house in Mulberry, Fl. Her and her husband have been taking care of the truck for me. They drive it from time to time. My brother in law replaced the battery while I was overseas so its probably about a year old. My sis has been taking the pictures, sorry I know they could be a little better, but she is a busy woman. The additional photos show the tail gate. I didn't mention the condition earlier so here is the picture. It also shows the truck bed.. this is the only major rust on the bed. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be hard to repair, you can see for your self. The bumper is dirty, its not rust.. I had to look hard too, but its just the leaves that collected in the bed and then were washed out and fell on the bumper. The bumper is stamped Panama City, Florida. The mileage on the odometer, is 24,471. The reason I believe its original is the condition of the vehicle. The seat does not have the wear marks of 100k +. Neither does the brake pedal nor gas pedal show signs of heavy wear. Nor do the other knobs. I asked the mechanic that maintained the city's fleet. He swore that it was original mileage and it never rolled over. He had no interest in lying since the city was selling the truck..- not him. If there is a way to know if it has... let me know, if there is a specific picture you would like. Also.... the Carrier Bearing or the "Driveshaft Center Support" that supports the drive is worn. The bearing is fine, but the rubber that mounts the bearing is dry rotted. My Brother in law say's i'm crazy and it doesn't need to be replaced, but I think its why the cruise control doesn't work very well. The truck drives solid with no unusual vibrations. The bearing is sold at autozone from $18.99 to $77.99. I know it will be fine without it being changed, but I'm trying to be as thorough as possible. I don't anyone to feel the least bit surprised. Please ask more questions!
