Vehicle Detail

This is a solid rust-free CA car originally sold in Glendale, CA (I have the original owner's manual). I have owned this car for over 10 years. When I bought the car it had just been painted a 2-stage (base/clearcoat) Boston Poly Green. The paint still looks very nice even though it was painted a little over 10 years ago. After aquiring the car I reassembled it (it was partially torn down for paint) and proceeded to daily drive it from around the year 2000 until late 2002. Since that time it has been in my garage and driven only occassionally on weekends. This cougar was originally equipped with power steering. I converted it to manual steering but I kept the quicker power steering box in the car. I did this because I did a lot of freeway driving when I daily drove the car and I did not care for the overboosted, dissconnected feeling I got from the factory power steering set-up. I do not have any of the original P/S components other than the P/S box that I left in the car. This car was also originally a factory air conditioned car. It is missing most of the original A/C set-up as you can see in the pics, I do not have any of these components. This cougar is very solid and reliable. It drives very nice. It turns heads whenever I drive it. I have entered it in local car shows/cruises to very good reception. The engine is smooth and has nice low end torque. The trasmission shifts excellent. The brakes are in very good condition, it stops smoothly. It knocks down decent mileage on the highway. The sequential rear taillights function correctly as do the hideaway headlights. The seats are in very nice shape with no stains, rips, or tears. The headliner is in excellent shape. The door panels are in good condition showing a little wear from the years. Carpet still looks good. All glass in in good condition. The body trim is in very good condition. The body is very straight and panels line up very well. I have lowered the car tastefully to fill up the large cougar wheel openings. Even with the lowered stance the car still has plenty of ground clearance and still rides smooth. The engine and engine compartment are both clean with nice detail work. I installed the following parts after I purchased the car in the year 2000: rebuilt 1966 289 4V engine. -Edelbrock performer aluminum intake maniflold -Holley Carburetor 600cfm vacuum secondary manual choke -Crane energizer camshaft/lifters grind #266 H10 (nice smooth idle, good torque, mileage) -Flow Cooler high volume aluminum water pump -Taylor spiro-pro 8mm ignition plug wires -Later model style distributer cap/rotor -Pertronix electronic ignition module installed in distributor -rebuilt alternator -rebulit starter -full length exhaust headers -had the following parts powder-coated in silver: valve covers, alternator brackets, volt. regulator cover, coil mount, transmission dipstick, timing pointer, oil dipstick tube, water pump pulley, crank pulley, air cleaner lid/base, and intake manifold. -K+N air cleaner -Had original radiator re-cored -Had the original C-4 automatic transmission professionally rebuilt (shifts excellent), new trans mount -Had the original driveline professionally balanced and new u-joints installed -Had alumunized 2.25" dual exhaust including Magnaflow X-pipe crossover, (2) Hooker turbo mufflers installed. Tailpipes exit just out of sight behind rear valance. Has nice mellow rumble at idle and cruising speeds with throaty growl upon heavy acceleration. -installed performance 600LB 1" lowering front coil springs with urethane insulators. -installed performance strut rod bushings -installed Mustangs Plus Magna performance rear leaf springs with 4.5 leaf, mid-eye mount, new shackles, 1" lowering blocks. -KYB shocks at all corners -(4) 17"x7" American Racing fully polished Torq-Thrust II rims (absolutely zero curb rash). -Front tires are Falken 215/50/17 and rears are 225/50/17 with less than 1500 miles on all 4 tires! -Installed new gas tank with drain plug, new fuel tank sending unit. -new vinyl top installed (year 2000). -new door weatherstrip and new trunk weatherstrip -In the year 2002 performed brake job including: rebuilt front brake calipers, new pads, high performance front brake lines, new wheel bearings/seals/dust caps, rebuilt master cylinder and power brake booster, turned front rotors, turned rear drums, new rear wheel cylinders and rear brake shoes/hardware kits. In the year 2000 the following was performed on the interior: new black carpet, new black headliner, had the original seats re-done with custom cloth pleated velour center inserts with simulated heavy grain leather vinyl sides on both front seats and rear, new kick panels, new scuff plates, all dash bulbs replaced. ITEMS OF NOTE: There some small rocks chips in the leading edge of the hood and on the lower front valance. There is a noticeable ding on the drivers side quarter panel just in front of the cougar emblem (see pics). The outside mirror on drivers door might need a new mirror head (it's a little loose, won't hold it adjustment while driving), The clock does not work. the factory AM radio does not work. The dash pad is warped and has a crack near the center on top (see pic). The steering wheel has a crack in the top (see pic). The front bumper still wears its original chrome and has gotten a little dull over the years. The rear bumper still has its original chrome which could use a re-chroming and it also is dented on the passenger side bottom (see pics). -Please note: I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is also for sale locally. -Please note: Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges and arrangements.
