Vehicle Detail

Up for auction today is this 1974 Ford Bronco with the Ranger Package. This one is all original and unaltered - what you see is what has always been! The color, one of our favorites, is Bright Lime. Coupled with Avocado Houndstooth interior it makes for a great look. Lime and Avocado, yet in 36 years everyone resisted the urge to mash her into guacamole! Add the Ranger package to the picture and you have one of the most pleasing looks for the best 4x4 money can buy. Here's a little history on this Ranger Bronco. It was originally sent to the San Jose, CA sales district where it landed on the lot at Ed Chovanes FORD in San Leandro, just north of the San Francisco Bay. It was purchased by the first owner in Castro Valley, CA , which is on the east bay, up in the hills. After it's stint there, it was purchased by the 2nd owner who lived in Magalia, California, out by Chico. So you see, this truck has been too far inland to succomb to rust from the coast, and just enough south to escape being in the snow very much. It was equipped nicely from Ford with the Ranger package which included full carpeting, Houndstooth interior, rear interior quarter panels and door panels, headliner, bright body trim, argent grill, chrome bumpers, color keyed dashboard, and remote mirror for the driver. Spare tire carrier, AM radio and full wheel covers too. The 302 2V motor is also original, right down to the CA smog system. It's all there and working properly. All the decals and stamps are on the motor too. As you can see from the photos it's not a heavy leaker also. Here's how the VIN plate decodes: VIN: U15GLT76644 Color Code - 4 "Bright Lime" DSO 72 San Jose U152 - Heavy Duty Package GVW4900 B98 - 3.50 LS C - 3 speed Manual Dana 30 4 wheel drive with locking hubs The pictures pretty much tell it all, but lets talk about them: As you can see the paint job looks great for that of a 10 year old car, and this one is 36! It's mostly original. I say mostly because upon close inspection, it appears the left front fender was refinished, probably for a small dent. I know it happened long ago, because it was repaired with laquer paint and they used a factory Ford Bronco Ranger stripe kit when they re-applied the stripe - those haven't been available since the early 80s. At this point the patina of the whole truck is uniform, and you wouldn't know about the fender repaint if I hadn't told you, even if you were standing next to it. The Bronco is very straight and clean. As I mentioned before - there's no rot, and very minor surface rust. And it is surface - no pinholes, no bunching, etc. The factory undercoating is a bit spotty and peely in places, but still no rust - seams, floors, door jams, inner fenders, rocker panels, body seams, tailgate, door pillars all clean. Check all the pictures...and if you need some of any area, let me know and I'll post them for you and all others to see. The doors open and shut like new; very little effort and sound great as they shut. They also fit well too, no sagging from the hinges, or latch and post. Tailgate fits and opens well, as does the hood. The top has never been off, nor has it had anything stacked on it - it is straight as an arrow! Mechanically, the 302 Runs smooth, and starts every time effortlessly. Plenty of miles to go, since it only has 72k right now. No hard cranking or dieseling. Brakes feel good and are still the drum brakes front and rear. Steering is nice and tight, yet smooth. The shifter is easy to operate and not sloppy like many are. This is a great Bronco with great options that you can get in and drive. There's no rust repair to do. It's got to go, so maybe you can show it your town, and give it a warm spot in the garage!? This truck still has the factory Dana 44 front axle in it.On Aug-04-10 at 23:54:12 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks for all the questions on the Bronco. I've attached a pile of pictures here to help clarify - I realized the pictures could have been a bit better on these parts. First off, you'll see the rear seat picture. I think it was either in the shade or something on the first set, but as you can see the color is really good on it and it matches the Avocado front seats just right. Also pictured are some underbody shots. Sure there's undercoating there, but it's uniform and original - it hasn't been touched up and you can clearly see the contour and shape of clean underpinnings, just like a wet bathing suit. Check the floor seam, passenger inner fender, and inner rocker panel. Also included here is the hardtop. I can't stress enough that this top is MINT. The bedding in the rain gutter is intact and beautiful. Look at the shine too!!! lastly, that pesky side cover that tried to escape. As you can see it's not broken and snapped right on. Also of folks dont know about this tough little trim piece. Try to find one in Avocado. Looks good on there. Lastly, we have a photo of the tailgate which shows there's no dent on the tire latch area and it's generally nice and totally rust -free. Original painted tailgate letters too. Thanks for all your questions and interest in this beauty. Good luck and call us if you need more info!
