jayk47 Store Hi, Thanks for looking at my VW 1970 Bus. This is a NO RESERVE auction. You bid, you buy! TO SEE MORE PHOTOS OF THE VAN (100+) PLEASE VISIT - http://1970vwbus.shutterfly.com/pictures The History I bought this bus out in Brenham, TX in 2005. It was bought from a small dealer. His vocal history (not supported in documents) was that it has been in Texas all its life. It was a fully running Bus and I used it as my daily driver for around a year until the clutch went out. Whilst it was un-operational I decided to address other issues on the bus. This led to a long list of issues needing addressing and subsequently led to my loss of interest due to the workload and lack of time. Since then it has been sitting out in Houston, TX for a number of years. Work Done and new parts - New Pistons + Cylinders. New Intake Manifold. New exhaust. New Oil Pump. New Clutch Plate etc - probably more! Work was carried out by a local VW Enthuthiast. I received the van back and got it running and carried out the procedure to 'break the new pistons in'. The Van ran great except for the brakes and the clutch. The brakes are 'Drum Brakes' - never that great. I decided to address the brake issue but ran out of money when told the price by the mechanic. There was also an issue with the clutch always seeming to be 'engaging' and I subsequently found out that I had the wrong clutch/throw out bearing in place. The engine is actually from a 1971 Bus (1600cc) which used slightly different clutch parts - hence the problem. IMPORTANT NOTE - Engine is not from a 1970 Bus. The Van I bought the Bus on the strength of its body. I had seen a lot of others around but all had some major body issues and this hardly had any. Since it has been sitting there has been some corrosion to the body and a few dings here and there - went through Hurricane Ike! I would say it has a very clean, straight body - a rarity for this year. I messed around a lot with the interior. Not a professional job by any means! Looked OK at the time - a little weathered now! Most of what I was given is still there - seats, fridge, sink, gas tank, pop-top (no leaks). I have painted and messed around with a lot of this original stuff. I'm trying to paint as honest a picture of the Bus as I can and have given as many photos as possible to show the good and the bad in its entirety. I encourage you to come out and poke around as much as you want! Parts There are a lot of parts that are not shown on the pics -parts from a beetle, nuts + bolts, gaskets, brake parts and a load of other stuff. Useful parts would be the sliding door rubbers, and rear door rubbers that are included. The Heat Exchanges were removed from the Bus and I'm having trouble locating them and may not be included in the sale. Again, I encourage you to come and see what we have! Reason for Sale Van has been sitting at my In-Laws house for many years. Finally, their imminent house sale has motivated me to depart with the Bus - its either that or it comes to live with me in Austin, TX. Id rather it go to someone who wants it and I have no time or desire of restoring back to a running vehicle. The Bus needs to be gone within 3 weeks - hence the NO-RESERVE! Conditions of Sale You are bidding to buy! I have left NO-RESERVE Van will need towing - your expenseNO Tire Kickers - COME AND SEE THE BUS!Texas Title in HandWill need to be picked up and moved within 1 week of Auction Deadline Questions - I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability and knowledge. I am not a mechanic or very mechanically minded by any means, but ill do the best I can. You can call me on 832-659-6812 or email me at jay@zootzu.com Once again I encourage any potential bidders to come out and take as much time as you want poking around the Bus. I need to sell this bus and my starting price reflects that! Ive spent thousands on this thing and my loss is your gain, hopefully!
