Vehicle Detail
1979 Lincoln Continental "Town Coupe" Bid starts at $1.00 Reserve is set at $1500 which would be a steal. The original owner is still on the free & clear title, and has never been re-titled. So you would be the second owner for this Continental. The original owner was a doctors wife from Woodstock Virginia, its been well cared for. She has new plugs, new brakes and all fluids changed and this cream puff is ready to drive anywhere. I am not a car dealer & I have no need (says my wife) for another vehicle so its on eBay. Someone is going to get a nice Lincoln Town Coupe. I found out 356,535 Lincoln Continentals were built in 1979, except for the station wagons this was the least of the production run in 1979 with 74,599 Town Coupes Built, that year. I have been told the Turqoise Paint and White Trim is also rare. 1979 was last year for the big cruisers. I drove this car home over 75 miles, and it ran super, she just just floated along at 70 to 80 mph. It had no smoke, no pings or any shakes. Really a great road car, that got alot of thumbs up cruising down the road with the sunroof open, and good tunes on the radio. Made me think of how I could convince my wife to keep it..If I do, I will have her back to perfect and sell it for a ton more. The car is a 6.6L (400) small 4 barrel and gets over 17 miles per gallon combined mpg. Wheel base 127.2 233" long, 55.2" in height, tons of options including the compass on the left outside mirror, cassette player and cartier clock. Big sunroof, and all of the neat opera lights. No broken windows no *big dings, no dents. In fact I can't find any dings in her body. It comes with the original owners manual, and a clear title. Take a look at the photos, its in great shape, and is super straight. Everything works except the passenger door automatic lock. Here is what I believe she needs to make her about perfect. New Paint, its peeling on the trunk, and paint the rubber piece between the bumper and trunk.. A small 3" by 3" patch of surface rust on the front left behind the wheel well repaired. One small vinyl insert in the door guard, and the A/C re-charged. The leather could use a professional cleaning no rips or tears. Very small pitting in the chrome, (which could be polished out) and a blemish in the rear left top of bumper. Marhyde or Vinyl prep the top to finish her off. Other than some tire rubs this car doesn't appear to have been in any wrecks, and I was told it never was. She kept it serviced and well maintained with just over 100,000 miles on her. This Town Coupe could be a keeper for a collector. I am not a car guy, and have done everything I can do to present this in a fair and honest way. No tags are on the car, it will need to be tagged by the winner of this auction. It will also need to be picked up, or transported by the winner. I will require a $500 deposit via PayPal when auction closes. A certified check cash or paypal will be accepted on the balance due. Good Luck, and Thanks for looking.
