Vehicle Detail
1988 - First Generation Toyota 4Runner V6 Automatic 4WD You are bidding on a 1988 Toyota 4Runner – V6 automatic 4 wheel drive. And if you know first gen 4Runners, you know that a V6 automatic is tough to find. This vehicle had new rear sides installed about three years ago and the entire truck was repainted green at a professional body shop. The brakes were re-vamped by a professional mechanic. I have owned three first gen 4Runners and this one stops better then the other two ever did. Under the hood, there's a new fan hub and the timing belt has been replaced within the last 40,000 miles. Runs good. 4WD works perfectly. The interior looks great - seats are perfect and the dash is in great shape.Other Features include:Brush guardRemovable hard topBug sheildAftermarket steering wheelClass 3 Trailer hitchCustom rear bumperCD Stereo from PioneerSony front speakersPioneer rear speakersCherry bomb muffler Headlight covers aka Blackouts (one is cracked, and does not stay on very well) Lund Visor (lights included, but not installed. No lenses, lenses can be ordered from Lund.) That being said, this truck needs some TLC from a first gen 4Runner lover. Rust is starting to become a major problem thanks to a few New England winters. You’ll also need 4 new tires. This much loved 4Runner has a lot of great qualities, but being over twenty years old and fast approaching the 300,000 mile marker, it has its quirks.Quirks:There is no heat. At all. The fan was replaced, so it blows plenty of air, but it is not even warm. The “heat” (if you want to call it “the heat” still) only works on Medium High and High. The visor and hardtop drip when it rains. The rear window functions, but one of the window relays, the one behind the driver’s seat, needs to be unplugged when you’re not using the rear window. Otherwise, water will get in there when it rains and make the window motor continuously try to put down the window. This could eventually burn out the motor, so that’s why you’ll want to unplug it. Rear windshield wiper not included. The key operation of the back window in the tailgate does not work. The gas gauge drops to E after ½ tank. This truck eats a small amount of brake fluid and could use a new master cylinder. When the brake light comes on, you’ll need to add fluid. The passenger side interior door handle doesn’t work – luckily, these 4Runners had a second interior door handle on the passenger side door for rear seat passengers. This one works just fine so your passengers can get out. So, as I said, this truck runs good, needs some TLC, but I believe she's still got a lot of miles in her. Any questions, feel free to ask. Locals are welcome to come see.
