Vehicle Detail

I’m selling a 1965 Honda CB160 twin motorcycle; it runs. Title is free and clear; I have the pink ready for the sale. It is currently registered non-op. It has 20360 original miles. This bike was going to be my personal ride, but, after major back surgery it’s out of the question for me. Awesome project for someone else though. It still needs work and a lot of cosmetic TLC (paint and chrome). It has electric and kick start; the electric starter works some of the time (motor needs servicing). Brakes are in good shape and so are the wheel bearings; wheels turn real smooth and grease looked good. The carbs have been cleaned and re-built. Brake and clutch cables work good. The engine has 0.25 mm oversize pistons but are too small. There is 0.005” clearance between the piston and cylinder walls, the max tolerance is 0.002”, so, I believe 0.50 mm pistons are needed. The bottom end looks solid and in good shape. It has new valves and, the valve seats have been re-cut and lapped. Gear box feels good too (although I’ve never ridden it). Cam and rockers look good. New head gasket. New battery that is kept on a battery tender. Left muffler is rusted thru in one spot on the bottom rear end. There is some light surface rust in the gas tank; I had removed the rust once with electrolysis but it came back while sitting, easy to remove again though. The gas tank walls are solid; no cracks dents or heavy rust damage. Both air filters are there (a rarity) but the paper elements are deteriorating; I was going to replace them with foam or a K&N filter element. It has the original keys and they work on the fork lock but the ignition locking mechanism is gone (I use a screwdriver). No tool kit or manuals. Battery side covers and brace are missing. Tires are shot and the tubes hold air for a couple of hours. There is a decent amount of surface rust on the bike (see pictures) so, paint and chrome will need work (but all parts are structurally sound). Seat needs a new cover, but the springs and housing are in good shape ($40 fix, easy). Electrical system works good. Horn needs to be replaced, there is 12V when the button is pushed, so it’s the horn unit. And the brake light does not work; brake switch down by the foot pedal is bad. Tail light, head light (hi and low), dash light and indicator lights (neutral and hi beam) all work perfect. Speedometer works very smoothly (I tested it by spinning the front tire by hand). I have posted a five minute video tour with the bike starting and running on youtube. The video was taken on July 15th; just a couple of days ago. Here’s the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtV1iOFNw-c If the link doesn’t work, cut and paste it to your browser address bar. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: I have tried my best to give an accurate and true description of the bike; lots of pictures, video and detailed description; nothing has been intentionally hidden or glossed over. Please use these resources carefully before bidding and ask questions; questions are good and I’ll do my best to answer them in a timely fashion. This bike is SOLD AS IS. There are NO GARANTEES and NO RETURNS. Also, SHIPPING IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BUYER. You can arrange for a shipping company to pick it up or you can pick it up yourself. A reasonably small reserve has been set just to cover the expenses I have into the bike thus far; please don’t ask what it is, I won’t tell you. The winning bidder is expected to immediately pay a NON-REFUNDABLE $200 retainer via PayPal. The remaining sum may be paid by a certified cashiers check if a shipping company is picking the bike up; THE BIKE WILL NOT LEAVE MY HOUSE UNTIL THE CHECK TOTALLY CLEARS, this may take several days or even a week depending on how fast the bank(s) are working. PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE PICKING THE BIKE UP YOURSELF, I WILL ACCEPT CASH ONLY. Thank you for your interest, happy bidding and have a great day!!!!! On Jul-17-10 at 14:57:02 PDT, seller added the following information:Please note: As shown in the YouTube video, the bike only runs with the choke on. When you open the choke up the engine dies. Also, new pistons should be installed before riding it.
