Vehicle Detail
For your consideration is a well seasoned and broken in 2002 Suzuki Bandit 1200. What does well seasoned and broken in mean you ask? It means I beat the living crap out of this bike, that's what. It's a filthy, mangey, bruised and battered, tough bastard of a bike. It's got dents, it's got scratches, it's got cracks all over the place. In fact, anybody who's reading this should just assume every surface of this bike is either dented, scratched or cracked. I'm not taking pictures of every single one of them. There's too many, and I've got better things to do with my time. If you're the type who needs an immaculate, trailer pony, who only takes his bike out on July weekends when the temperature is between 75 and 80, and the humidity between 30 and 40%, keep right on moving, 'cause this ain't the bike for you. If you're the kinda guy who rides his bikes into the ground, who sees a rough exterior surface as a patina of a life fully lived, who really likes to get his moneys worth out of things, keep reading. This might be the bike for you. And now, here's a little bit about the bike: The Good: Hayabusa Master Cylinder & Calipers. Hayabusa Clutch Master Cylinder. This has a far more progressive, linear feel to the pull then the stocker, which I personally find preferable.Kawasaki ZRX1200R Headlight & Bikini Fairing. This bike started out as an S model, with the half fairing, which I always though was FUGLY as all hell. So I ripped it off, and ran it around in streetfighter style with the a pair of those old school, Lucas 7" bucket type headlights. Looked badass. But, then my tastes changed, and thought it would look pretty good with a bikini fairing, so I modified an Eddie Lawson Replica setup. Looks pretty good in black with the contrasting silver paint & black engine. Was not a cheap modification. Fastened properly with a pair of fork ears.Clip-on handlebars. 2002 GSX-R1000 Rear Shock. First mod. Stock suspension on this bike is sloppy. This made a significant difference.Jetted carbs with K&N cone filters, complimented nicely by a: Yoshimura pipe. Shiney & Chrome. P.A.I.R. system removed. Brand new clutch discs. <10 miles on them. RK 530 XSO chain <1000 miles.Suntour Sprockets. 15 tooth front <2000 miles. 47 tooth rear.Brand new spark plugs. Some kinda expensive, fancy German frame sliders. Don't remember the brand exactly, something like RSG, but I can give you the link to order replacement plastics. I think it's Wild Hair Accessories.Reflective Mexico sticker on the swingarm.Brand new oil filter. <10 miles. Complete, official, Suzuki Shop Manual included. The one they use at the dealership.Tires are Michelin Pilot Road 2's. A great tire, but prolly not enough tread left to pass inspection. The Bad: Engine needs a complete rebuild, and/or replacement. Suffered death by overheating. The oil pump is driven off the clutch basket, and when the clutch discs were replaced it was not reinstalled properly to engage the oil pump. I replaced the spark plugs hoping they were just fouled, and found the old ones in cylinder #'s 1 & 2 had some metallic residue on them, which most likely indicates the pistons have been burned. Left side case cover is cracked, and will need to either be replaced, or welded.Rear Caliper is FUKT. The whole system, from master cylinder back should be replaced.Left side, shifter-peg / rearset has the shifter nub snapped off. Additionally, rearset is from a Hayabusa. No chain guard. The Ugly: Well, the whole damn thing is pretty ugly. This is not a bike for someone overly concerned about their image. Unless the image they're going for is "Post-Apocalyptic Desert Warrior". Showing up on a bike this obviously well used will impart instant cred. This bike has obviously been ridden longer, and harder then those perfect, spotless bikes. Well, I think that just about covers it all. If I remember anything else that's relevant, I'll update the listing. Please feel free to contact me with any & all questions in advance. About the engine replacement, there was a guy out in Ohio who sold a 1200 engine for about $250 on here. I would have bought & installed it, but the shipping would have been a killer. So, if you're handy, and can either source a replacement engine, or rebuild this one, you can get a great deal here. Additional information: Payment in any form other then paypal would be strongly preferred, with the exception of personal checks from Nigeria, or any other third world country. Bike is available for advance view & inspection by appointment. If you want to see it, just get in touch. Since it's highly unlikely this bike will actually sell, I plan on parting it out and selling all salvageable parts right here on ebay. If you see something you like, just let me know. Good luck, & happy bidding. On Jul-22-10 at 10:57:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Battery not included. On Jul-23-10 at 10:19:17 PDT, seller added the following information: The bike does not start, or run. The winner of this auction will have to arrange for transportation - pickup truck, tow truck, whatever. I'll assist loading the bike.
