I have decided to retire and I am liquidating some assets. When I purchased this car and had it shipped to Southern Missouri, it was the first time it had been out of California since it was built. This is/was a very nicely optioned car including its original tri-power 389 engine, Muncie 4-speed trans, and 3.90 safety trac rear axle. Other options include under hood lamp, dual exhaust splitters, interior lamp group, rally gauge cluster, soft ray glass, console, HD fan, quick ratio steering, and metallic brake lining. It retains its original paint color and interior. Car was built 3D. Paint code NN Interior code 213-30. This car was frame off to install new body mount bushings and frame paint by the previous owner. I pulled the engine and trans to inspect and completely rebuilt both. Amazing as it may sound the engine still retains its stock bore and the original crankshaft is also standard. I had a local shop check the block as well as clean, hone and install new cam bearings galley plugs and freeze plugs. They also checked and polished the crank and resized all rods. Heads were completely reworked and one piece stainless valves were added. I chose one step hotter than original hydraulic Comp cam and lifters and installed a new Mellings oil pump. Engine was reassembled with Fel-pro gaskets and seals, Tru roller timing chain; file to fit molly rings, Speed Pro forged flat top pistons and Clevite bearings. Engine casting # 9778789 Build date B 4 5 Code WS. The trans was disassembled checked and cleaned. It was reassembled with all new syncros, bearings, and gaskets. A new clutch assembly was also added before reinstallation. Muncie Trans casting # 3885010 date code P0304. The rear axle was disassembled inspected and cleaned. The posi unit was rebuilt with all new clutches. I installed new bearings and seals and changed the original ring and pinion of 3:90 to a ratio of 3:36. This is a much friendlier gear for today’s cruising and if anything the car is even faster with it. The original gears will be included with sale if the buyer desires. Axle casting # 9777142 code ZK This car is like a time machine and a blast to drive. It gets looks and thumbs up everywhere you go. It runs down the road straight and true and stops the same way. It starts, shifts, and runs like new. It has a menacing big cam idle that sounds terrific through its completely new exhaust system. All gauges function including the fuel gauge, speedo, and tach. All lights and signals work including the interior lights. All windows roll perfectly and all glass is original. Car is ready to go just as it sets and needs nothing. WHAT IS NOT PERFECT? I have not tried to get the original am radio working. The lower windshield reveal molding has several small dents. The front bumper has a small area of chrome missing and both bumpers are showing age. The chrome taillight bezels are also showing some age. That’s it.
