Vehicle Detail

1992 HERITAGE EDITION 25TH ANNIVERSARY CAR - INCLUDES SPECIAL 25TH ANNIVERSARY BADGES ON DASHBOARD AND REAR SPOILER - ONE OF 1254 PRODUCED! CAR HAS SPENT IT'S ENTIRE LIFE IN THE DESERT SOUTHWEST AREAS OF TEXAS - SUPER CLEAN AND STRAIGHT BODY - WITH NO RUST !! 3RD GENERATION (1982-1992) CAMAROS ARE FOLLOWING MUCH THE SAME PATH AS PREVIOUS GENERATION CARS - MANY OF WHICH OF NOW WORTH MANY TIMES THEIR ORIGINAL PRICE. IT IS GETTING VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND A "CLEAN" ORIGINAL CAR THAT HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED BY BY SOMEONE. MANY OF THE CARS THAT WERE SOLD IN NORTHERN STATES HAVE RUSTED OUT BY NOW - OR ARE ALREADY IN THE HANDS OF COLLECTORS.SEVERAL CAR COLLECTOR MAGAZINES HAVE CALLED THE 3RD GENERATION CARS SUCH AS THE LATE 1980'S IROC Z-28', AND THE SIMILAR 1991-1992 Z-28'S "BARGAINS" - WITH CLEAN LOW MILEAGE VERSIONS SELLING FOR UP TO $20K. THIS CAR IS NOT "LOW-MILAGE" (CURRENT MILEAGE IS 121209) - BUT IT IS CERTAINLY EQUAL IN CONDITION TO MANY CARS SELLING FOR $10K- $15K. YOU WOULD BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND A CLEANER BODY. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN EARLY 2008 - WHILE ON A FISHING TRIP TO LAKE AMISTAD IN DEL RIO, TX. (ON MEXICO - TEXAS BORDER) I PURCHASED FROM THE 2ND OWNER - AN AIR FORCE PILOT STATIONED AT LAUGHLIN AFB NEARBY. (CAR STILL HAS A BASE PARKING PASS STICKER ON THE WINDSHIELD). HE WAS BEING TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER AFB ACROSS THE COUNTRY - AND NEEDED TO SWAP TO A TRUCK TO MOVE HIS BELONGINGS. HE HAD PURCHASED THE CAR A COUPLE OF YEARS PRIOR - FROM A WOMAN WHO WAS THE ORIGINAL OWNER - BOTH OF THESE PREVIOUS OWNERS TOOK GOOD CAR OF THE CAR - CAR IS IN VERY GOOD SHAPE FOR A NEARLY 20 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. - 5.0 liter "TUNED PORT INJECTION" (TPI) ENGINE RUNS VERY SMOOTH AND STRONG - I HAVE NOT PUT SIGNIFICANT MILES ON THE CAR - BUT IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO USE ANY OIL - IT DOES NOT SMOKE - AT ALL - WHEN STARTED - EVEN AFTER SEVERAL DAYS. - TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FINE - ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING - CAR RUNS AT NORMAL TEMPERATURE EVEN IN TEXAS HEAT. - CONVERTIBLE TOP IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION - IT WAS REPLACED IN ABOUT 2006 - AND CAR HAS BEEN IN INSIDE STORAGE MOST OF THE TIME SINCE. - BRAKES ARE NEW, SUSPENSION SEEMS FINE - CAR DRIVES SMOOTH, TRACKS STRAIGHT, AND CORNERS WELL. THERE IS SOME MINOR WEAR ON THE DRIVER SEAT, THE DASHTOP HAS AN "AFTERMARKET" PAD ON IT, AND WHEN I BOUGHT IT - CAR HAD A STEERING WHEEL COVER ON IT DUE TO CRACKING ON THE ORIGINAL LEATHER STEERING WHEEL. POWER WINDOWS WORK FINE, THE POWER LOCKS WORK ALSO, BUT STICK AT TIMES - PROBABLY NEEDS THE PULL RODS LUBRICATED. THERE ARE SOME SMALL CRACKS ON THE PLASTIC TRIM PANEL THAT COVERS THE FRONT EDGE OF THE CONVERTIBLE TOP - HAS NO EFFECT ON OPERATION OF THE TOP. LATCH ON THE CENTER CONSOLE STORAGE COMPARTMENT DOES NOT SEEM TO CATCH. POWER OUTSIDE MIRRORS WORK FINE - BUT SWITCH FOR SIDE TO SIDE ADJUSTMENT STICKS AT TIMES. "TUNED PORT INJECTION" EMBLEM ON REAR BUMBER HAS A COUPLE OF LETTERS THAT HAVE PEELED OFF - VERY EASILY REPLACED. - CAR IS NEARLY 100% ORIGINAL - EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD IS OEM - INCLUDING THE BRAND NEW DELCO 6 YEAR BATTERY I JUST INSTALLED. (When I replaced the battery - I noticed a small amount of surface rust on the battery tray - I treated this with a "rust stopping" spray. The body (fenders, quarter panels, etc.) have no rust.) - DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG - CAR INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL 16" FACTORY ALLOY WHEELS - TIRES ARE FAIR (I was contemplating upgrading to larger tires / wheels) - PAINT IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION OVERALL - VERY SHINY AND GOOD COLOR ON THE RED STRIPES. CAR'S NOSE WAS REPAINTED BY PREVIOUS OWNER - HAS NO SCRAPES / SCRATCHES ON LOWER SPOILER. I NOTICED SOME MINOR OVERSPRAY ON UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD - NOT SURE IF THIS WAS FROM NOSE TOUCH UP - OR IF ENTIRE CAR MAY HAVE BEEN PROFESSIONALLY REPAINTED AT SOME POINT - PAINT APPEARS TO BE ALL FACTORY CORRECT - INCLUDING STRIPES. ONLY ITEM THAT IS CURRENTLY NOT ORIGINAL IS STEREO/CD PLAYER - car currently has a pretty nice SONY CD system in it - 57 watts x 4 channels. I do not know if the speakers were upgraded or not also. Stereo sounds very good, CD plays fine. Car also has an Alpine remote alarm system installed - I have not really used the alarm system at all - can't really say for certain it is working properly since I have not needed to set it - but I believe it is. My orIginal plans were to restore the car to 100% original at some point - should be thousands of factory GM radios for these cars available used out there. OVERALL - THIS IS GREAT CONVERTIBLE FOR MANY PURPOSES: - CAR IS PART OF VERY SMALL PRODUCTION RUN FOR Z-28 25TH ANNIVERSARY CARS (At the time this car was produced - all the focus was on the "new" 1993 Camaro due out in late 1992.) - 1992 Models - as the last of the 3rd Generation Cars - incorporated all design enhancements and "upgrades" for these models. (First model years of a new body tend to have more problems - which are addressed through recalls or service bulletins, and then changes are made to production cars based on these "fixes". When a car body is produced for 10 years - the last year will tend to be a much more reliable and better made vehicle.) - CAR WILL BE 20 YEARS OLD IN ABOUT A YEAR - QUALIFYING FOR "VINTAGE" PLATES AND CHEAPER INSURANCE IN MANY STATES. - CAR DRIVES RUNS AND DRIVES WELL NOW, WILL TURN EVERY HEAD AT THE FRIDAY NIGHT "CRUISES" THIS SUMMER - AND WITH NEAR PERFECT BODY AND NEARLY ALL ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT - THIS CAR - PROPERLY MAINTAINED - SHOULD INCREASE IN VALUE. I purchased this car for occasional use. I have had access to "free" climate controlled storage for the car since I purchased it, vehicle is in Southlake, TX - near the DFW airport. Due to a very busy business schedule, I just have not had time to enjoy the car as much as I hoped, and I may need to find other storage arrangements for the car. I am listing the car in the hopes that it can find a good "home" with a collector - or with a driver who will recognize the benefits of the car of owning a great looking convertible that will increase in time. One of the attached "photos" is a scan of the Texas Vehicle Inspection Report - This is a safety and emissions check I had performed at Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, TX - car PASSED all categories. Photos also show special Texas license plate I obtained for the car - "Z28-25". I have a newer version of this on order - temporarily I have registered under a "regular" plate until the new custom license plate arrives. I will pass on the rights to the special Texas plate to any purchaser in the State of Texas. FOR OUT OF STATE BUYERS - Please check on freight rates before bidding if you plan to have car shipped to you. Car is located VERY close to DFW airport - and I will be happy to pick up the purchaser at the airport if you want to fly in and drive home. Car is also within 30 minutes of Dallas Love Field - for those who may want to fly in on Southwest Airlines. ITEM BEING RELISTED - SUNDAY JULY 11TH - PLEASE READ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION BELOW: I wanted to apologize to those who had been following this auction this past week. Even though auction was marked for only U.S. and Canadian buyers - Ebay allowed a bid from another country - which apparently may have not been a legitimate bid at all. I have been working with Ebay - who now assures me that these bids will be blocked going forward. If necessary - I will also block all bids from "new" users as well - it is an unfortunate occurrence with Ebay today that there situations like this that occur. Several people had inquired via email regarding my original listing of this car in May. Car was "sold" to a U.S. buyer who was in the military and actually stationed in Canada. That buyer apparently was unable to arrange shipping or had other issues - I actually had email messages from a friend of the buyer that stated he had been involved in a car accident - and would be OK, and that he would contact me to arrange payment and get the car picked up. I tend to bend over backwards for people in the military (I have a nephew who is schedule to deploy to Afghanistan in early 2012). But - I only had a limited amount of time before Ebay would charge me the full fees for this "non-sale" - so with no additional contact from the buyer - I relisted the car a few days ago. Several people had been emailing - asking if I would take a certain amount to end the auction and sell to them. I do not think that is in anyone's best interest. Ebay auctions are a good way to protect both buyer and seller (I have a perfect feedback score - 100% satisfied customers), and the price that I will eventually sell this car for will not be any different that than the prices shown on the auction. The car is worth every penny of the "Buy it Now" price of $7900 - I have seen several cars in person that sold for over $10K that were not in as good overall condition as this car. High miles are the only drawback here - but remember these miles were nearly all by the original woman owner (1992-2006) - down here in near desert areas of Texas. I am originally from Michigan myself - and a car with this many miles is beat to death up there (roads are terrible - potholes every winter). Down here in Texas, asphalt roads will last for decades without major potholes, and cars with over 100K miles still drive great - as this one does. I am "restarting" the auction again tonight (July 11th) - and will run it for one week until the following Sunday night. I would be happy to answer any additional questions you might have. Good Luck Bidding!!! On Jul-12-10 at 16:20:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Looks like I forgot to change the auction length back to one week - so auction will run through WEDNESDAY JULY 21st - unless someone grabs it for the Buy it Now price. - Good Luck!!
