Vehicle Detail
This is a 73 Honda 450 Scrambler. Up until two years ago it was my daily transportation. Since then it has been in a garage and I haven't ridden it. This bike is close to original with the exception of the mirrors are missing, and the front tire was changed to a standard street tire. I think the rear is still the original. I am not sure if the paint is original or not. It is pretty badly faded and checked. I bought the bike at 5000 miles and it had been in storage for twenty some years. Before I put the bike up I put a new battery in it. I did ride the bike today a bit and the battery is definitely dead. I had to jump it. I am not sure if it would take a charge or not. I seemed to run ok. A little rough at first but then the gas has been in there for two years. It started easily with the kick starter. I also started it by jumping it and using the electric start so I know that works. I also checked the blinkers, brake lights (from both the front brake lever and the rear brake lever) and the high and low beams. Every thing worked ok except the blinkers which require a good battery to actually blink. The lights did come on dimly. The seat has a small tear in it where and I put a little electric tape over it. It's been that way for four years now. Dust always seems to accumulate on the front forks so I don't know if that is oil coming from the fork seals or not. Doesn't seem to affect the ride that much. The clutch and shifting works just fine. I also believe the handlebars may be bent just a bit. Sometimes it seems as if they are not in line with the front tire perfectly. It never bothered me enough to worry about it. It has just over ten thousand miles on it now so I am sure it could use some points and a valve adjustment and maybe have the carbs gone through. But I think someone could just hop on it and ride it right now. If you have questions please ask but I rarely have internet access during the weekends and I won't have it on Monday of next week either so I may take a few days to respond but I will answer questions. This bike is located in East Tawas MI which is about 2 hours north of Saginaw. I am asking for local pick up only on this. I do not have time to crate and ship this. If you would like to hire someone to do all that after it has been paid for than thats fine but I won't have anything to do with it. I am also not delivering this bike. The auction is a no reserve auction!!! The bike has to go since I have been storing it for two years now and I am just not going to ride it. I am absolutely not interested in taking a personal check or trades!!! Don't ask!! I need a cashiers check or cash only!! On Jul-06-10 at 06:40:29 PDT, seller added the following information: I just want to address a few things people have asked about. The bike does not burn oil or smoke or leave a blue trail going down the road. It does not really leak oil. I don't remember it leaving spots or having to add oil. It will leak fuel when parked if the fuel petcock is not closed. I assume the needles and seats in the carb are worn. I went to double check the title yesterday and pulled out a title for a Suzuki. I had a clear title but I don't know what happened to it. I will do whatever it takes to ensure that you have a good clear title for the bike. I can file for a new one or I would be happy to accompany you to the local Secretary of State here in town to get the title work done. I think it is quicker if I go down there with you. I will pay all fees associated with this. If for some reason you can't get down there with me I will get a new title and sign off on it and send it to you. I will not give you problems over this because I am currently fighting a title mess with a different vehicle and I would never put someone through what I am having to go through.
