Vehicle Detail
This Corvair van was just painted a few weeks ago. Anything you see on the paint is either dirt or bug excrement but no chips. Before this, it wore its original paint. Snow white with a blue stripe around the middle. The body was already very very straight and rust-free, which is very unusual for a Corvan. It is evident that this van was always kept in a garage as even the underside doesn't even have surface rust and the window gaskets are still fully intact. All 7 windows are in excellent shape with no cracks, chips or scratches. The windows roll up and down smoothly. Mechanically, the van is in great shape. I just drove it 150 miles with zero problems. There is a groan when the clutch is engaged. It is probably the throwout bearing, which doesn't affect the operation at all, it's just a noise. You can replace it if the groan bothers you. Otherwise, no problem. There is no noise when driving. All 4 gears, including reverse, work perfectly and the clutch does not slip. I just replaced the valve cover gaskets as the originals leaked. No other mechanical issues. The e-brake works great. The tires are brand new with less than 200 miles on them and the alignment is arrow-straight. Balancing is perfect. The brakes work excellently. The steering is tight with no issues. This van drives very very well and gets amazing gas mileage. It has just been tuned up with new rotor, points, condenser, cap, wires, etc. The bumpers are excellent. The headlight and taillight bezels are 99.9% perfect. The grill is mint. All 4 original hubcaps are mint with no dings, dents or scratches and they are very shiny. The van does need one headlight and an antenna. The interior is in original, unrestored condition. Everything is very good to excellent with the exception of the seat, which has terrible foam and cover but the framework and seat springs are perfect. Interior bezels and cluster lens are great. Glove box latch and hinge are perfect. Speedo, gas gauge and all that work fine. Cigarette lighter does not work. I have NO RESERVE on this auction and the starting bid is ridiculously low. There is no catch, I have 7 vehicles and I need the room. I also have a 1976 heavy duty Chevy shortbox cargo G-20 van for sale. send your email if you would like pics, price and description. Good luck with your bidding! On Jul-04-10 at 21:13:26 PDT, seller added the following information: This Corvair van was just painted a few weeks ago. Sorry for any confusion or complication. ebay doesn't explain how their new revision system works. I didn't know it would print the entire description twice. The only change to the first description is regarding the clutch.
