Vehicle Detail
1973 ALFA ROMEO GTV 2000The car was restored to very high standards, by an ex winston cup champion engine builder. He built the car to be quick and handle as well as a GTA. The front suspension is adjustable. Every part was taken off this car and plated, restored or replaced. He succeeded in building a wonderfully pleasing car to drive. It has been rallied on the Copperstate 1000 and proved to be an amazing rally car that is a total blast to drive. It could easily be vintage raced with the simple install of a fuel cell in the spare tire carrier. This car is civil and fine and has never been raced or driven in the rain. The quality of the cosmetic restoration is of the type that could be shown in an invitation concours. The mechanical restoration is strong and tuned to perfection. The car needs nothing to be enjoyed. I am confident that you could not find a better all around Alfa for touring, racing, rallying or simple enjoyment. I will miss this car. I have another project to start or this car would not be for sale. Many of the cars for sale are some measure short of being done, ready to drive, enjoy and show. EVEN THOUGH THEY LOOK GOOD IN PHOTOGRAPHS. You pay less and never have the car you want. This is not one of those cars and will be a bargain in the long run to it's next owner.I have not seen a better looking GTV and nor have I driven a tighter peppier better handling one. It gets more than its fair share of attention at shows against anything exotic or race inspired. I never take a rally in the same car twice, however I made an exception with this car as it proved to be such an enjoyable experience. Two people are accommodated with ease and luggage and storage space are more than adequate. This car can hang with anything else on the road that costs many, many times more. The car is fresh and has no loose ends, nagging issues or needs. The tires, brakes, clutch, transmission are new with less than 2000 miles. The car was dynoed at 148 HP.The car is detailed with the exception of dirty floor mats. Any and all decals can be easily removed.Opportunities like this do not present themselves often. This car will sell to the person that understands what it takes to build a car to this level. There are no rust issues whatsoever. I have owned the car for two years. The car was media blasted with all windows removed the rear end was completely rebuilt, the suspension is all new.ported 2000 head10.4 pistons, new linersreworked crankshaftcompetition valve jobEuro cams timedstainless valvesnew euro cast headersrebuilt and modified oil pump with cooler and braided linesground flywheel$2000 worth of weber carbs and custom mountscustom built radiator with extra cooling2 sets of sway barsroll bar made by safety devises in Englandevery bracket, washer and bolt was replated or replaced Look closely at the photos of other cars offered for sale. Many claims are made about, stripped to bare metal, taken apart, media blasted, compete rebuild, etc. Look at the nuts, bolts, hinges, and the hardware. When you see hardware painted the same color as the body, you have a scratch and spray paint job which photographs well ( shiney) but in reality is a nightmare. That is indicative of corners cut elsewhere and issues that arise once you own the car. The motor compartment and trunk were painted black at the personal preference by the man that built the car. It would have been easier to simply spray the entire car one color, he chose not to do so, I personally like. I have never been happy with a car that was done incorrectly or on the cheap. It would be better to pay less for cars over described and restore them yourself. It is always best to get a car done right. Cars done right are cheaper in the long run and can be enjoyed immediately and worth more in the long run. It took years to restore the car and much more money than the reserve.
