Vehicle Detail
For sale is this 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner with the factory 383: 333hp & the 727 automatic transmission. This car also has the heavy duty 3:23 ratio 8 3/4" positraction. One of the few options includes power steering. The original beep-beep roadrunner horn does work! This was carefully restored with a fine eye for detail. This was one mans passion that began in 2005 when a nice, rust free southern complete body & engine was located. It was brought home and everything was dissasembled. The only thing that keeps this car from being a frame off job is there was no rotisserie. Everything was either repaired, re-built, or replaced. Everything was painstakingly painted the factory colors and put back in the proper location. The job was finished in mid summer 2009 and besides a few trips out it has been garaged ever since. The car has a nice sound when running and always starts up with one push to the gas pedal and one turn of the key. No expense was spared in the restoration of this solid, rust free southern car and she still sports all her original metal including the floor pan, trunk pan and entire frame. SOLID, ORIGINAL & again SOLID! Here is the list of new or rebuilt parts: Factory 383 engine was rebuilt in 2005. 727 Trans was rebuilt about the same time. New speedometer cable. 11" Brakes are all new & include new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, pads & springs. New shocks front and rear. Re-arched 7 leaf rear springs. New exaust including Year One HP exaust manifolds, pipes, mufflers and correct chrome tips. NEW, not re-built, 3speed windshield wiper motor. Factory re-built Carter carb. Re-built alternator. Factory re-cored 3 row radiator. New engine wiring harness. Battery less than a year old. New windshield washer bottle and pump. All 4 of the little round chrome marker lights are new. Re-built factory points distributor. New MOLDED hood pad. Legendary door panels and seat covers. New arm rests and bases. NEW, not restored, exact reproduction seat belts. New door handles, inside and outside as well as window cranks. Rebuilt AM pushbutton radio w/new speaker. New headliner & deluxe package tray. New ACC molded rubber floor cover. New windshield & rubber. All new weatherstripping, ALL NEW, every piece of weatherstripping is quality reproduction. New chrome gauge surround. New factory style tach. New glove box liner. New rubber trunk floor mat. New Firestone 14" Redline tires on factory 5.5 steel wheels w/NEW OLD STOCK dog-dish hubcaps. Re-plated original front and back bumpers. New adjustable side view mirror. Body is painted tripple white with 7 coats of gloss enamel, like they did in the old days and it shines like new. This car is ready to ride, right now, ready to cruise and its something to be proud of. The grille, headlight bezels and tail panel are completely straight, ding and dent free as is all stainless trim. There is no damage in the interior, the steering wheel is flawless, the dash board is perfect, there are no rips or damage to any part of the interior. All the glass has been out of the car and it was polished and restored with new bushings, so all windows roll up and down like new. It comes with a complete spare and original jack assembly. To get an idea of how meticulous this resto is to original: it has the correct GE headlights, the factory wiper blades and arms and reproduction stickers have been used where needed. The high bidder, in addition to a wonderful car, will also get a clean, clear, signed VA title & bill of sale as well as all the receipts. My father restored this car & thankfully he did get to enjoy it a little until he passed away late last year. He left behind all the cars "specs" and instructed the family how to construct the auction on ebay. He was a stickler for details, God love him. So suffice to say that if anything isnt covered in this auction, if anything was left out by mistake, you can count on that part (assembly) being new or restored. He instructed that the car is to be sold at auction & the money divided up among his 3 grandchildren in a college fund. He was a noble man and we have much love and respect for him and his memory. His heart was filled with joy toward the end that he was able to complete & enjoy his last restoration project. We were lucky to share it with him. High bidder is expected to pay a non-refundable deposit of $500 imediately after the winning bid is made. This is to ensure you are a viable winner. Full payment MUST be made within 10 days of the auctions end. Your offers are appreciated but this must be an auction, so there can be no buy it now. The reserve is set fair & below the cars value, so please bid. We want to answer your questions quickly & honestly, but please respect that we dont know as much about the car as he did, so please have patience.
